2024's David Brooks sale. If it allows us to get the final pieces of the promotion jigsaw then the loss of a talented young player will be offset by the players the fee will let us bring in
Brooks was a decent player to be fair.

Good money for someone who hasn't produced.

Jebbison should have been tied down to a longer contract when ill so we could demand more money.

Lankshear was different.

All in all, we've got some dough to play with. Wouldn't want Osula back, think he's more a Slew than DCL (except Slew actually scored a few for us)
I think we got a really, really good deal for Jebbison.

Osula is just crazy and unexpected money

I was really looking forward to seeing how he progressed this season. It’s sad to see the lad go and I wish him the best. 15 mill though is a good deal for both parties and helps the rebuild.
I personally think he’ll eventually make it as a prem striker. Especially training with world-class players now.

Chuck Lankshear into the mix and it's only £17.5m, and I disagree it's good business.

They are 3 generational talents by our standards, and only getting that for them 3 is really quite poor.
Only Osula has been a good fee.
Not one of them are “generational talents” 😂. Two league goals for us between the 3 of them over the last 5 years. Lankshear wasn’t even one of “ours” either, we picked him up after being released by Arsenal. He was never going to stay up here once a London club came back for him.

A genuine GLTTL. He seems one of the most humble, down to earth young lads in the game, when there's plenty of egos knocking about.

Always seems to work hard, with a smile on his face.

The only thing I want to see now is at least one quality permanent signing, somewhat linked with the money we've brought in. Cooper or someone, who will be ours longer-term. I don't want us to just spaff it all up the wall on loan fees.

Can’t turn that down at all
Glttl
Money needs to straight back into the team, he tried his best and for prince to take it would piss me off

Have you just quantam leaped into the body of a Sheffield United fan.?
I know we are skint and needed to get promoted to save us financially, but we didn’t spend a lot last year and have come down and still not spent and we are selling so where is the money?

We cleared the decks last season and now we need the parachutes plus a substantial sale to cover costs ( wages etc)

Hard to understand how we are so desperate for a measly £15 mill, when we are getting parachute payments from the prem.
Not sure we’re desperate. Seems like Newcastle are.

Parachute payments don’t last long

We still spent a fair bit last year.

Think all our permanent signings added up to around £60+ million, we only sold around £30 million in Ndiaye and Berge, leaving us with a deficit in the region of around £30 million.

Since coming down we've sold somewhere between £15 and £20 million worth of players, along with Archer going back to Villa which reduces that deficit.

But we've also spent around £5 million (not including the add-ons on Burrows) on Moore and Burrows, which will only add to the deficit, if we buy Cooper then that as well will add to the deficit.

Our sales: Bogle (£5m?), Traore (£3-4m), Osula (£10m?)

What about the tv money we got last season in the prem?

They’re literally babies
“Literally babies”?
Crying most of the time? Wetting themselves regularly? Liable to tantrums? Obsessive about an occasional glimpse of titties?
Think you’re confusing them with somebody else.

All three are genuine talents, but all still have a great deal to prove before they can be considered as ‘ generational talents’. It’s a deluded description. Same with Ndaiye.

I hope that they all go on to have great careers, and I suspect that one or more probably will.

That's always a problem when you get relegated, when you go up into the premier league everything (wages, costs etc) increases, and when you come down again those things decrease but you lose quite a bit of your TV money.

We would have got a fair bit of TV money last season but there's a big gulf in the different amounts of TV money between Prem and Championship.

Ideally, your parachute payments (which you only get in installments) are there to help you with players wages and that loss of income you get on relegation.

You clearly don’t watch the youth teams regularly enough.

Ask someone like Yogi who knows his onions whether he thinks they’re generational talents by our standards or not

You have no idea as to how much youth football I watch, and so your first assumption is based on nothing.

But it’s irrelevant. I look at the current crop of 19 - 21 year olds across the professional leagues, playing against senior level players ( not against second level youth football opposition), and ask myself the question as to whether these are the best talents in their national peer group. That’s where you spot generational talent. They aren’t. They are promising talents, but let’s keep things in perspective.

I note that you use the term “generational talents, by our standards”. Lowers the bar a bit, doesn’t it. I’m a generational talent in my 5 a side League ( largely because most of my generation can’t get through the warm up), but I doubt that Guardiola will be calling soon.

Scores on his debut (but offside!)

So doesn't score. 🙂
That video just confirms everything I think about Osula, very quick but not a lot else bit like a modern Adrian Littlejohn.
Newcastle have got him trained quickly, he has got very good at falling over and grabbing his leg as though he has been shot. Seem to remember, they were great at that last season.

Falling Over (with honours) Jebbison will already have his cap and gown issued by Bournemouth.

Looks like he had a decent debut. The toon fans seem excited about him already.

Funny how people see things differently. I saw a well taken finish but apart from that, alot of sloppy first touches/mis-controls for the remainder of the highlight package.

None of them are in the same league, or even leagues below Ndiaye. They may become so, but as of today they’re miles off.
