Wilder willing to return?

I think that what Wilder needed was some sick leave because of stress. He had almost non-stop success for years had never had to deal with the situation he found himself in when things started going badly wrong. Maybe he did want too much control over events and paid the price for it. Managers are well paid but I do wonder how it affects them mentally when dealing with players like Mousset, Duffy, Lundstram etc, who undermine the manager all the while (whatever they say in public), not to mention the vultures and jackals of the media circus who pontificate whilst waiting for their next victim.

We had some brilliant times but he buggered it up. In a far more spectacular way than Warnock. If the stories about "not being arsed" about players whose first language isn't English have some truth, I'm glad he's gone, because even dinosaurs like Bruce and Allardyce are beyond that rubbish.
If he came back, I can't see his personality and style changing, it hasn't over 4 years, so we'd just get more of the same.
No thanks!!

Where are these stories?

If that's true that's borderline racism in my view, if not xenophobia. A very serious allegation.

I can picture one of those teasing club videos to unveil the new manager. You know, the kind they do for new players. The camera zooms in on a steamy shower door, to reveal Wilder, stark bollock naked, wearing nothing but a beaming smile.
Now that would be something to see. Fig leaf in place of course 😉

Im really not sure what I think of this, its weird emotions, almost like how it would feel getting back together with an ex-girlfriend.

Would everyone accept him coming back, would everyone back him in the same way as before, would we go back to the same defensive tactics, would there be new ideas, would we be a laughing stock?

I think its pie in the sky rumours but Id definitely be fine if he did return, but things would have to be different. No arguements between the owners and Chris, more positive tactics but also be open to suggestions of players both home and based abroad on advice from JWV (if still possible, thanks a bunch brexit!).

I honestly dont think this will happen though, too soon for a return.

Just because you start dropping multiple bollocks at work and start blaming everyone else, it doesn't mean you need to go on the club, it means you need to take some responsibility and buck your ideas up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve seen Wilders best years. He’s not going to have the run of the club like he did here unless starts again at a lower league club.

As I said above, he could well be the new Phil Brown/Nigel Adkins/Paul Lambert and this is the best it'll ever get for him.

Which should, if he's sensible, make him reconsider his decisions he has made over the past 12 months.

Don’t think he will walk into a decent job the football world have sussed him.
His tactics worked for that period but as hoofball its run its course.

I would have him back. I just think he was mentally and physically exhausted. We know how we feel losing every week. Imagine being a fan and manager and not being able to sort it through whatever reasons. He has had a few bereavements during the last year which wouldn't help. We have all struggled through the pandemic and I think all of this got to him

If he was to come back, he'd need to have 'the 2016 approach' and transfer list/release a load of players on day one to set the tone and move forward.

I was listening to Talksport last night whilst driving.

They were talking about West Brom being relegated and they think Sam Alladyce might stay because they would be the main favourites for promotion next season.
They highlighted that Fulham have too many loanees and Sheffield United are in turmoil and need to get out of the habit of losing.

However they mentioned the huge gap between the PL and Championship.
They said next season the Championship doesn’t look particularly strong....so all 3 relegated clubs have a good chance of being promoted at the first attempt.

One of the presenters...not sure if it was Darren Ambrose or Darren Bent.
He said he was talking to Alan Biggs who said that “if Sheff Utd offer an olive branch then according to him, Chris Wilder is prepared to return”

I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned before or is it old news?
Would you take Wilder back? I suppose it depends on what alternatives we have...but it would certainly give the club a boost.
Get Derek Acorah to hold a seance and we can have John Harris manage the team from beyond the grave.

We have all struggled through the pandemic and I think all of this got to him

Wilder used to joke that every Sunday he would go to the pub with his mates (all Blades fans) and they‘d all discuss his tactics.

Might sound daft but maybe Chris struggled not going to the pub to see his mates.
They would have told him stop f—ing playing Lundstram.

What stories? I can’t ask the question any clearer.
Ok, fair point, just the stuff I've dipped into on here, which I obviously can't confirm, and which may be utter drivel peddled by people making it up as they go along!! Shows the flaws of the internet up!
Anyway BB, I still wouldn't want him to come back, I just don't think it would work (but have no proof, just an opinion!). 😉

Wilder has done well for years and has got better league positions the last 10 + years each year. This season things turned and he didn’t know what to do. He blamed the players, he blamed the board but at the end of the day he had a shocker. I’m afraid his ship has sailed and it’s now time for an upgrade.

Well all his staff and Knill have been turfed out already, so he's going to have to learn to eat shit from day one if he does reappear, which would be very unwise in my opinion.
Far better for him would be to get in with a lower division side and see if he can lick his wounds, laugh at himself, learn from his mistakes and have a mini career renaissance - and enjoy himself a bit.

Down to 12-1 on SkyBet to be manager first game of next season.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before Chris looks like a man at the end of his tether. A man who may be exhausted by his efforts over the successful years. If that is the case, it is little wonder that depression may have changed his mind set.
The Wilder of old would have jumped through hoops to take over now. Ok. I know he was culpable for our plight but. IMHO. he may be wasn’t thinking right because of his tiredness etc
If a rejuvenated, refreshed Wilder could be brought back, we would once again have the best manager In the league
Prince A. Get him back before it’s too late

Fair weather manager not willing to go through the hard times with the squad he built after milking all the plaudits they earned him, publicly slates his team and employers.

What's not to like?
Fairweather manager? When he joined us he joined a basket case of a club. Lost his first 4. Had to work around the McCabe and prince fallout and court battle.
This season was a cocktail of issues for us not just down to Chris.
Before he came to us at Northampton had a tricky owner situation there too.

Think alot forget or are completely happy to tarnish by this season events.

Where are these stories?

Exactly highly doubtful. He often tried to play up mousset stating get him fit and he's a good un for us. Let him go back to France for a bereavement during last season too.
Mousset a bit like Mcburnie obviously has gained some baggage with his car crash too. Could well have been a bit annoyed about that...

Down to 12-1 on SkyBet to be manager first game of next season.
Nah not happening. Fact he's been rumoured to be on the Westbrom list is far more likely.

Makes it even less likely doesn't it. If wilder returns it will be down the line and who knows what situation wilder or the club could be in by then.

I'd love him back but realistically got to be slavisa at the min as best case.

CW, once was a good meal, then bought shit as a dessert, couldn't admit his mistakes, made the team eat it and so now all he has left us with is a season of turds. We have to find a new guy to turn the turds into fertiliser in time for next season.
That just stinks to be honest.
