Just heard a few of Chris's after match press comments. BBC/on here

Isn't it just so refreshing to admit we ballsed it up, it weren't good, the ref was a pre-Madonna booking two players for f all and going disjointed at the end and playing not as a team.

I don't ever remember hearing either Arsene, Jose or Surralex ever behaving with quite so much honesty.

We just have the best manager ever. C'mon Chris you can do it sunshine.

I'm not sure that today is the day to be praising Wilder.
This was his worst day at the office in a long time.

Maybe it is but without your best player and a silly booking and a crappy mistake he didn't blame the villa no goal, the 2 games in 4 days, the lack of Jack. Just said we were pants.

It's his honesty. I feel he sees it as any intelligent fan would see it, not an arse covering excercise for Chris Wilder - top man.

Lads, I'm a Blade like all of you. Wilder's brought us some fantastic times & of course I admire everything he's done. Just seems an odd day to single him out for praise. Most of us acknowledge he got today's team wrong. He's a big boy, I'm sure he can take some of the criticism along with his team.

Always tells it like it is, no excuses or blaming the elements. He’s one of us and knows he’d be wasting his breath trying to bullshit us. Sure, you could say his team selection wasn’t the best but he doesn’t send them on the pitch with instructions to pass it back to the home team every time we win possession.

It's great having such an honest bloke as our manager. However the patience for having sharp and MCB on the pitch together is somewhat wearing thin now.

I was annoyed at first but once I heard the full RS interview and it was explained why Jags didn't come on, I felt a bit better about his decision making during the game.

That said I still think Lunny should have started instead of Berge and Moose should have started along side McBurnie.

That's fine - criticise him for his mistakes.
Even if you do that, why is it wrong to praise him for things he gets right, as in his after-match comments?

Have you heard his comments?

I am singling him out BECAUSE HE IS NOT BLAMING IT ON ANY OTHER SOD that's all. He's not stupid, he nows it has been a shit day at the office.

That my man is why he is - a top man.

Taking responsibility. Tory ministers, Jeremy Corbyn take fucking note!

It's great having such an honest bloke as our manager.
And it’s only right the fans can be honest and we’ve been off the pace, lacluster and unthreatening on the pitch and strange selections off the pitch Since the restart. Newcastle’s players were bigger, faster and much more imposing than any of our players. Berge looks like he’s scared stiff of having the ball or getting into the game, Norwood and Stevens having off day, Hendo looked a bit static and no Diddsy, JOC or Egan. Could it get any worse?

At 0-0 we were comfortable. The red card and silly air shot by Enda did us.

We go again Wednesday.

Still think we need pace up top. Mousset surely has to start on Wednesday night alongside Sharp.

Yes. We could have been playing Sheffield Wednesday!

Insisting on MCB and sharp as the front two could make things considerably worse! Lol

At 0-0 were were toothless + the best we could hope for was a final score of 0-0

I thought at 0-0 with 11 men we looked better than we did at Villa. Certainly had more energy about us and were trying to control possession but the final ball into the box was poor.

Once we went down to 10 men then the whole lot went out the window.

I'd have thought it perfectly reasonable to both praise him on his ability to provide honest assessments whilst being able to notice he might have had a bad day in other respects. It doesn't have to be one or the other. For me the fact Wilder already knows what went wrong and isn't afraid to be honest about it is one of the reasons we've seen such a tremendous turnaround in fortunes these last few years.

At key moments over that time he's shown the ability to get the team back on the right track quickly and I'm confident that'll happen again, if not I think hes earned the leeway to move on without too much criticism.

Let's carry on giving our support as best we can atm its all we can do.

Would be easier to discuss the game and our relatively poor re-start without the sound of knives sharpening in the background.

People queuing up to crown this as “the worst performance under Wilder”

I genuinely don’t get this need to go through the motions of hyperbole after a defeat. Venting manufactured frustration for the sake of it. When we are winning people are demanding our players are all in their respective international squads and discussing a regular champions league spot. We lose a couple and the same people are saying the squad needs culling, we’ve been “found out” and need to change the system players who’ve played 5 games or less are written off as shit.
