I usually appreciate your posts Essex as you talk sense. Is this a way to address any member of this board? Sitwell is a respected member of the board who rarely throws around abuse. Its hard to be calm watching that but I gave up months ago.
No issues, water off a ducks back. I wouldn't go so far as respected 🙄

Ooh he did touch that nerve didnt he. I thought you were the caring left ,such nasty words.
There was a game plan and it's not nice to watch.
We set up to spoil the game a tactic that does work if you dont concede a really good goal or drop a bollock, unfortunately we as a team take it in turns to give a poor goal away,it was Ampadu's turn last night (not for the 1st time).we obviously didnt fancy our chances of taking the game to Fulham ( Fulham better than us?)
It was working well until!!. Conclusion !
We had a go when losing and really should have got something in the end so !!?
Game plan functional (although hard to watch),dont concede early and keep it tight chances will come late in the game
(Classic game plan ) so the plan was ok just not good enough to carry it out.
We have played against it and carried it out successfully numerous times over the years.

I agree , its has been noticable how many times ,we tried to be in the game until the - minute but one mistake has cost us. Basham coming off didnt help his plan but at what point was he going to change it I wonder ?

Why persist with a plan that is horrible to watch and clearly doesn’t work - as evidenced by our pitiful points total and league position?

By sticking with it all season Wilder is taking us down as one of the worst teams in PL history.

Clearly injuries have made things difficult for us but they don’t justify playing this way. I cannot remember the last time we played anything resembling attacking football and tried to win a game from the start.

In the space of 12 months we have gone from football innovators to an awful anti-football team.

CW is trying to get the sack & the payoff but the Club won't give it to him. This is causing a poisonous situation from which there appears to be no escape.

If we play open football even against a team low in the league like Fulham!
We will get beat easily as we arnt good enough ,Wilder knows this and the game plan is to keep it tight ! Frustrate the opposition and go for the win late in the game.
We did play that way in many games last season difference being we had our strongest team out there who Carried out the plan well ,the confidence gained last season evaporated during lockdown the injuries set in starting with O-Connell the rest unfolds unfortunately for us
we have to build and go again next season .

It is odd as I would have scoffed at such an idea before but the team line up and approach was literally set up to lose the game. Noone can say we even tried to win the game or even draw it really (inevitable theyd get and take one chance as has happened all season).

I think if we have a series of performances like that then the mood would rightly change in terms of the 'he needs to be back no matter what.'

People may say it does not matter as we are down but we have to see a semblance of professional pride, planning and foresight.

This ludicrous stubborn tactical monotony is doing him no favours.

There is no manager in football who has lost 20 of 25 games and has kept playing the sane way/shape?

Personally I'd keep him anyway. He deserves next season no matter what and hopefully shake out if this slumber but it is worrying his stubborn approach to tactics and recruitment. If he wants to be a top manager and not another Owen Coyle, Paul Jewell, Adkins, etc who all were raved about and had similiar records but all disappeared without trace, he is going to have to adapt. This 'I know best how dare anyone question me' to press/fans is not helping.

To be honest post match interviews are over scrutinised though. The proof of the pudding is what is played out on the pitch. Last night was woeful in all aspects individually and collectively. He needs to take responsibility as there has been many games like that this season.

It's becoming clear which posters have been irked by Wilder's pre-match presser.

Never did like this division, and it's worse since we were last here now they've added VAR . There's too much money invested in some teams now to leave the season end results to chance I.M.O.....

It’s the one unsolvable dilemma for me. Yes, he probably is as good as anyone to take us straight back up, but then what? Show me even a speck of evidence that our next crack at it will be any different. Better players maybe, better recruitment? Will we see a 360 degree turnaround in the half a dozen unforced errors that have served up this turd of a season? How? Why? I just don’t see it.

Let’s be brutally honest here, has he shown the kind of qualities consistently needed for elite level management? The tactics, the style, the line-ups, the substitutions (good god, the subs!) have been largely well below par for over a year. Even something as simple as changing formation when we’re setting shitness records and have nothing to lose, is apparently beyond the pale.

Couple this with him giving as frustrating a response possible in nearly every interview, taking potshots at the fans, and now starting to embarrass himself a bit. I dunno, it’s all a bit Phil Brown for me.

Also the bigger blade than thou stuff he indulges in at the end rankles a bit.
It's rife on here. Didn’t you get the memo? After a bad result, loads of folk just stop following Sheffield United. But they, they are different. They remain a Blade. They remain a Blade, even when we lose. The bravery. The resilience. Not just a Blade, a really huge Blade. They are unwavering. Most importantly, they are inspiring. Thank you.

Cant be a real Blade if you don't want to give Wilder another pay rise.

True blades and proper fans. God bless them all.

I think that's an insult to Wilders integrity.
He maybe got it wrong but not to deliberately throw the match
As he says we were well in the match when the usual mistake happened.
I agree it was horrible to watch and fans may say we got what we deserved.
I don't agree ! yes Fulham had lots of ball and it was embarrassing at times ! most of what they did wasnt hurting us which I think was the game plan.
We had chances after going behind and were robbed of a stonewall penalty which would possibly have been enough to get at least a draw.
We have played similar in the past and played against teams doing it to us,it can get results if no mistakes made and the opposition dont score a quality goal.
Its is a match spoiler way of playing ! I would take that all day if it kept us up.
We want to be more progressive as a club! Not there yet and injuries have taken there toll .
Yes we are down but not out! Wilder deserves the chance to take us back up.
A lot going on behind the scenes and Wilder seems to have got the player development going well ( 18s &23s )

Just moving off CW, does anyone think Souness is a closet blade ?
I have never heard him say a bad word about us..he is/was a big fan of the way we set up,loves CW as a manager,,always mentions how unlucky we've been etc etc ! Anyone else noticed anything ?
