The club needs to get away from Kevin Cookson doing the interviews he asks a question and then answers it himself as he’s asking it. It makes the interviews really smarmy and unpalatable. Wilder should be answering tough questions not softball ones.

I agree he does and he has the right too and if I’m honest I’d have rather heard that. If he’s asked tough questions it gives him the opportunity to be defensive, honest or aggressive or respond however he likes but when he’s asked a question that’s already been answered before the sentence is finished you just end up watching two blokes agreeing with each other which doesn’t do anyone any good.

I think he said it was close in terms of score line he did indicate that they were better team. Not sure what else people expect - I think players are now done and no point saying it to lower morale below rock bottom. Watching body language of players at end it was as though relegation had mathematically been confirmed

The interviewer being that biased does wilder a disservice as it doesn’t give him an opportunity to try and salvage the mood by being forthright in the interview. Instead what comes across is very patronising as it’s not an interview but rather the interviewer talking down to the fans and telling us what we should understand. That’s not the role of an interviewer in any situation he should pose questions and allow the interviewee to put forth their narrative not control it. I support wilder and understand the limitations he’s currently working with I really wasn’t expecting that interview to rub me up the wrong way but it has.

The thing is the if the point of this interview is the help the managers position which as you point out it should be given it’s done by the club then it’s backfired due to the pally way it’s been done.

It’s not his assessment of the game that’s annoyed me there’s plenty of people who see the game differently to me and wilder has proven enough to me that he’s a good manager. I was prepared for wilder to say he thought it was a tight game that could’ve gone either way etc it’s his stock line I suspect to protect players who he knows he’s going to have to see the season out with. My issue is that that wasn’t professional and probably won’t go over well with the fan base it’s the first time one of his interviews hasn’t hit home with me. Also when managers start having sly digs at the fan base it rarely ends well unfortunately.

The interviewer saying that we’ve gone toe to toe with a team like Fulham sounds like a parody question but I don’t think it was.

It’s Fulham ffs, they are shit relative to most other PL teams and we conceded the lions share of the ball to them and hoped for the 35% of the ball to create us an opportunity. Fair enough it’s a penalty, but apart from that we’ve had 1 meaningful chance all game and it fell to Enda.
