He should be in charge of us now FFS !!!!!!

Nothing against Rubén and I am fully behind him , but Chris should have got till Xmas then assess , fucking owners 😡
No he shouldn’t.

He walked out the back door when we were in dire straits in 20/21. He upped and left his troops - Bash, Baldock et al - who probably felt the same but had to see it out. He left when we needed him most.

Lot of drivel spouted about Wilder and his dreary tactics, poor substitutions, bizarre rants etc.stc. Everyone entitled to opinions I guess.

The FACT of it is he had forgotten more about football than yous will ever know.

The lack of respect demonstrated by more than just a few is laughable really.

UTB

He’s probably forgotten it cause he’s always pissed.

Outside the 'bubble' almost every footy fan Ive spoke to are thinking what the fuck have Sheff Utd done.
Most people outside of the 'bubble' also don't see the bigger picture and intricacies of what our fans did either so I take outside views with a very big pinch of salt.

Not saying right or wrong, but their opinions mean fuck all in the grand scheme of things.

He was sacked because he failed. Promotion in our grasp. He failed. Playing style. He failed. Unprofessional, 'look at me and how great I am' rant, after the Hillsborough derby. Failure. Embarrassing video's in a boozer, being a fan, amongst his fan club with their cameras on filming him. Utterly naïve and failed.

CW1 was amazing. CW2 wasn't. He took his eye of the ball and did his own legs, as did those closest to him. Someone should have had a word and maybe, just maybe he might still be there.

He's gone. We move on. So should he.
Excellent post and 100% correct 👍

Heavily backed in the JTW when in the promotion places but doesn't get us promoted, Oxford,Plymoth Millwall matches towards the end of the season, 3 points from a possible 18 from Leeds,Burnley and Sunderland boring insipid football( good cure for insomnia thou) when in a strong position at Wembley, taking a striker off and replacing with a midfield player inviting Sunderland to come on to us, enabling them to defend 30 yards up the pitch and leaving us with no pace up front. His embarrassing behavior at Plymouth in particular, his embarrassing rant after the win at the Sty, his refusal to play Holding instead of Robinson.

It is about the here and now and not about what his achieved six years or so ago.

I think the owners made the right decision with Wilder....with Selles, only time will tell.
Other than that though....he did ok??

As someone who's nearly thirty, Chris Wilder gave me the best seasons I've ever seen at United so I understand all the pro Wilder posts, but I don't think people realize that outside of the United bubble Wilder is seen as a joke. The rants, the sandwich talk, failure at other clubs since United. I absolutely love the man for what he did, but he's no longer the man he was and I hope I'm wrong but it could be a long time before we see him in the championship again.
I think outside of our bubble people are less hysterical over him. Look at the video after the win at Hillsborough. Every neutral account saying how brilliant it was and how good it must be to have that as your manager. It'll never happen again so the pearl clutchers win, football simply won't have any characters like that soon and they can all be happy how professional it is.

It's mainly just petty personal dislike from our fans that mean he is slagged off to a ridiculous degree.

The actual answer’s probably somewhere in the middle.

Fans from other clubs would look at the points total from last season in isolation; and not take into account the at times insipid style of play and borderline impressive bottle job towards the end of the season, which is the main reason that our fan base were so divided about Wilder in the first place.

Similarly, it’s not incorrect that his, at times, embarrassing conduct has reflected poorly on us as a club- and almost certainly will have had a severely damaging impact on his ability to get other jobs at this level.

The idea that he’s some sort of darling in the eyes of neutrals is wilfully ignorant. Look at the responses from Leicester fans when he was linked with the job there. Look at the responses to the arrogant Plymouth pre-match press conference, and its aftermath.

I appreciate everything Wilder did for us; but his stock in the footballing world has waned- despite finishing on a high points total last season.

I think the Wilder detractors are unfortunately going to have to admit he did a magnificent job last season eventually if they dig themselves out of the hole they dug themselves into.
I think you are expecting a lot if you think that’s going to happen. There are some who simply refuse to accept anything positive about him. (There are some who think the opposite to be fair)

I bet you were that kid that threw himself on the supermarket floor screaming if you couldn't have any sweets.

I can't be arsed to watch the interview see I'm a United supporter not a Chris Wilder supporter. While the up and at em brigade love the pashun and badge thumping it all means feck all the bloke is an irrelevant failure who has done very well out of Sheffield United, I'm glad to see the back of the cnut. Do we really have to go over this old ground every time we have a poor result.

I'm a United supporter

the bloke is an irrelevant failure
Ye you sound like a great United supporter. He gave us one of the best periods in our history. Gave us some of the best football we've ever seen. He will never be irrelevant no matter how much you weirdly wish that were true.

Clearly you aren't behind him as you want Wilder in.

Wilder ruined his own career by not taking it seriously and given most of our squad couldn’t get past 70mins it seems like he never learnt his lesson.

I don’t want a boorish lout for a manager, I want someone committed to doing the best he can.

He was top of the league with 7 games to go and one of the easiest run ins of all the teams at the top or the league, his record against the top teams speaks for itself, and he had the third biggest budget in the league, getting everything he asked for in Jan.

It can’t be anything else but a failure.

His first stint was about the club, his return was all about him.

Wow. Football, a game where 11 blokes kick a ball into a net has now become something a normal working class fan cant enjoy. Boorish lout, jesus christ. I don't know if you go to games, watch them in a box, or just have a passing interest in the sport, but having a fan that represented 90% of the fan base was the best thing that ever happened to me as a Blade. He gave me some of the best years supporting the club.
The sport is dying, being sold off, and I'll be one of the first to lose interest when it does.
If you think that singing songs after a Derby win, being frosty after loses, having a beer with the fans.. means he tried or cared less, then I dont know what to tell you.
Luckily for you, we'll never have another. We'll try once we fall into obscurity, the fans will clamber for a Billy Sharp after our identity diminishes, but as for as balancing pashun with pride, will to win and success goes, we'll NEVER get another CW.
So enjoy the next few decades, because we'll get exactly what you want. You can stop tainting his name and his legacy, and we can all jump into the "new era" and new "culture" 😒

A very good manager and club legend. Got a lot right last season. I think he'd have us in the play offs this year if he'd stayed--but unless performances improved an awful lot, not in contention for top two.

I don't think he's the manager to take us (or any club) to the next level. The January transfer window summed up his limitations and the football after the window closed was by and large pretty poor.

I really don't get the nastiness towards him from some of our fans. Can't we just say it was time to move on and wish him well?
