Wilder out

I don't disagree that he was less effective in the second half, but thought he played well in the first. I just think if we went on to lose the game anyway, and he wasn't directly at fault, the focus wouldn't be on Moore at all. I get we're all frustrated - I just find the 'Moore is useless' posts a bit pointless.
He was directly involved with not squaring the ball into the box when we had a glaring chance to make it 2 - 0. 'Didn't you see that' He dallied so long on the ball so so long, it was pathetic

He protected Hamza against the one on one with Mundle far better than Brooks did.
I thought that. I thought today was Brewster's best game off the ball. He didn't do much going forward but he protected Hamza constantly. When he went off Sunderland started to threaten down our right. Sadly, I knew Brewster was coming off when he probably should have taken off Peck for O'Hare instead.

I knew we’d spend 90 mins hoofing it to Moore. Wilder is so predictable this season. It worked for 45 mins but we needed to change it when Sunderland came into it second half. We didn’t. And we also constantly passed the ball backwards before we hoofed. Really poor second half from Wilder and some of the players.
So it worked first half, but it was obviously the wrong tactic for the second half...

It worked in the first half as we hoofed it to Moore who flicked it on to Campbell or back to Hamer. In the second half he had no one so it was a pointless tactic. As soon as we went back to one up top we handed Sunderland the advantage as we no longer have them anything to worry about. We helped them stop us from scoring a second goal.

Err we lost
He did not change tactics after they were on top throughout the second half
W e were out fought and never dominated possession in the second half

So playing direct to a big man doesn't work unless you play two upfront? This is obviously not true.

They had nothing to worry about, but after going one up top we created the second best chance of the game.

We were the better team for the first 45 minutes.

As soon as 8 added on minutes came out we dropped ten yards and held on … despite having the momentum so we didn’t need to ‘hold on’ that’s on the players.

However, we never really turned it round at start of second and it looked as though the players had been instructed to do that. That’s on the manager.

We still fashioned some excellent positions but also made poor decisions and poor finishing when in those positions. That’s on the players.

Subs were utterly useless and had no impact at all.

By the 65th momentum had well and truly shifted and Wilder resulted to his ‘chuck anyone on and hope’ strategy as the game went on.

Moore was a weird one today .. first 30 he won everything but after that was shit.

Second half he was basically a 4th defender for Sunderland taking the ball back in to midfield and playing backwards.

And to play a blind pass at that level in such a game is unforgivable really.

I’m also worried that wilder describes them as being in great shape. But non can last 90 minutes

We threw it away today through a combination of poor play, poor management and brittle self-belief.

It was the second half, that's when they backed down and hid when the pressure was on, the second half. Watch it back and you'll see them back down, concede 2 and lose instead of going up 👍
Nah mate.

Sunderland were no threat at all until the 75th minute when they scored. That was after we'd lost Hamer and Campbell.

How original, how about contemplating on this peroni soaked losers performance

How about going in The Banner and telling him to his face? Or the hotel at The Lane, he's in there after most home games. Or how about you shove your crusade up your arse if you haven't got the nuts to say it man to man (apologies if you're a they/them 😉).

I see you started another thread with the same topic. FFS, how sad.

UTBFTP 👊👊👊

Sunderland were crap until our no 2nd goal. And even then 2nd half they did very little until they scored.

We were overall much better 1st half and still managed to conjure up the better half chances and chances 2nd half till they scored. Sunderland weren't actually good today. That's what is so frustrating.

I'm not blaming luck but it wasn't on our side today.
VAR harsh call/not what it's there for. Brooks shot hits keepers trailing leg, don't think he really knows.
3 injuries in 10 mins and the final goal whilst down to 10 men.
Not to mention Anel collided with Moore.

My main gripe with Wilder is that I felt Campbell in this match could have stayed on longer. He didn't look dead on his feet and he kept their defenders busy when it was around him.

Spot on. All those blaming Moore (yes we all know why) - his movement was superb for most of the match, I hadn't realised how much he adds to the team until today. Blinkers and emotions are clearly far more important than fact. Get a grip folks, support the team and manager and get ready for what we hope will be a great season.

As soon as he made the substitutions he basically gave them the game.

Why the fuck would you bring 2 ft 3 Callum O'Hare on and play him as a striker.

And then why the fuck would you bring on BBD, who is unfit and does nothing defensively, and play him as a left midfielder?

A fucking child would probably switch them round.

But a child would have probably thought it might be a good idea to bring on an extra midfielder given we were just sat back letting them attack us.

All on Wilder. As per the autos. Too cowardly to play attacking football and finish teams off. We literally let them play themselves into some form.

Disastrous management when we had them in our pocket at half time.

And if JRS is fit and he left him out of the squad then fucking hell.

And what the living FUCK was he doing bringing on Seiki for Anel when HOLDING is sat right there?
Wilder completely f*cked it up 100% if anyone was gonna go up top it should have been Brooks.

Absolutely wasted Seriki and wss baffled as to why BBD was in midfield which is not hos position.

Seriki should have been further up the pitch with Brooks.

I have said it all season we papered over cracks and i believe that individual quality saw us over the line in a lot of games.

The trouble with Chris Wilder is every time we go 1 up in big games he has tried to shut up shop more often that which has left fans deflated.

I came out of that match even more angry than i have ever come out of a match at wembley.

If people bothered to look at how Sunderland set up and how they play and then analysed the game today you would tearing your hair out.

We played straight into their hands giving them far too much room and respect in that second half we invited pressure onto ourselves against the best counter
Attacking team in the league 🙈

We were pressing them effectively first gasl
Should have put. Spacd on your pho.

Some on here have been raising the concerns about this stupid approach to games most of the season. Been brushed away and had cult like defence of it. Deciding to revert to form with that today in the second half is one of the most stupid decisions in our history.

I can take us being outplayed or being unlucky, today was neither.

We’ve blown both our legs off while playing massively worse opposition for no reason at all. We are now going to lose Hamer at the minimum. We are stuck with some bad contracts to boot.

Wilder never should have been brought back, nothing he’s done since has remotely changed my mind. We would have had to sack him before Halloween next season in the PL anyway.
This season we have lost twice to Leeds, twice to Burnley, won once and lost twice to Sunderland. Those teams will all be struggling to survive next season so where would we have been?

I was thinking just before Sunderland’s first goal that Robinson was due to drop a bollock. And there it is. In what world does Wilder live in thinking he’s a competent central defender? Probably cost us 8-10 goals this season? Rapidly losing interest, if Willder and Robinson are at the club at the start of next season then expect more of the same. I actually think he holds some of our fans in contempt at times, hence his stubborn, I know best attitude.
Yet Pecks kamikaze mistakes don't get mentioned

1. Brooks should bave been up too
2. I don't kno why he woukd would play COH as a stiker.

As for BBD it aas a very poor choice for a DM

3. Wilder was at fault for the capitulation he was far too negative.

Would love know where the hell Rak Sakyi was that game eas crying out for him.

Wilder has pissed me off many times this season and his stubborn refusal to set us up to have a real go and put teams on the back foot for 90 mins has cost us dearly yet again this season.

First half i thought we played very well and should have been out sight.

But in true Wilder fashion he completely bottled it today second half Sunderland were there for the taking and we choked.

His use of subs was terrible yet again and why the hell he brought Seriki on salute it is embarrassing.

No Rak Sakyi was a big loss, cant understand why he wasn't even there it was a perfect game for him.

Chris Wilder only himself to blame it was basic stuff he got badly wrong.

Wilders stubborness and lack of a plan b and to try something new has killed us this season the fact he never used Rak Sakyi and Brooks as a combination said it all about negative tactics
