I do think they'll be scared to do it and we'll just limp on unless we go on a 6 or 7 game losing streak or there is a takeover. The fan base is split down the middle so the board are going to be unpopular whatever they do.

The reason it's quite different is that would have been correct a year ago, and is clearly miles off right now.
Well my eyes are deceiving me then. And in the most recent poll, almost three quarters want a change. And the reason why it wouldn't matter is that regardless of whether there is more reason to sack him now, there are still many many blades behind him to the very bitter end.

Do you really think the polls on here are representative? And this is no insult to here nor the people on it of course.Well my eyes are deceiving me then. And in the most recent poll, almost three quarters want a change.
I'm really not sure what you're looking at.
Of course, nothing's ever unanimous.
And what do we think that very bitter end looks like? And the reason why it wouldn't matter is that regardless of whether there is more reason to sack him now, there are still many many blades behind him to the very bitter end.
Odd question as 'bitter end' is obviously hyperbole. But the point being that they would follow him and find blame in many other places first before Chris... even in the case of relegation. And what do we think that very bitter end looks like?
Are they acting in his best interests though, or their own? There appears to be a lot of sycophancy around him, and I think a few of them enjoy the status that they think, wrongly, being the manager’s mate gives them.2. His mates. This group are the most ferocious for obvious reasons. Personal loyalty to a friend gives them even more emotional investment in the situation. We'd probably all be like this if our mate was manager.
Not I don't. Especially after a defeat. But there's clearly an enormous shift on the opinion on him compared to when they sacked him after gaining 92 points.Do you really think the polls on here are representative? And this is no insult to here nor the people on it of course.

I haven't actually voted or called for his head myself, I'm arguably a 1 in Roygbiv 's category.
But there will be a very large proportion of fans who aren't calling for his head that would consider it far more understandable than last time.
Although I believe he should have gone at the end of last season, since the legal disputes I have been in the first camp. However…I think the people who want him to stay fall into 4 camps:
1. The people who feel this is a terrible moment for even more upheaval. With the club already in a transitional season, and with little trust in the current owners, they see Wilder as a stabilising force and believe change now would only make things worse. The likelihood of the board getting the next appointment right is very low based on what they've done so far.
2. His mates. This group are the most ferocious for obvious reasons. Personal loyalty to a friend gives them even more emotional investment in the situation. We'd probably all be like this if our mate was manager.
3. Those who are struggling to let go of the nostalgia of his first spell. Wilder gave most of us the best years we have ever had as Blades, and that creates a deep emotional bond. A win under Wilder simply feels different because it carries the echo of that first era. No other manager can replicate that feeling, so people cling to it.
4. The ones who fear the unknown. Wilder is a Blade, he gets the club, and it clearly means more to him than it ever will to an outsider. If he goes, we’re stepping into uncertainty just like we did with old Ruby Selles. Whoever comes in won’t love United the way he does, and they won’t have that built‑in connection. Losing that kind of loyalty is a huge safety net to suddenly be without.
I get all of these positions to be honest, particularly the first. My own thoughts are we should never have gone back the second time purely due to camps 2,3 and 4. I don't like how a lot of the fanbase are so emotionally connected to a manager for reasons that have nothing to do with what's actually happening on the pitch. I don't think you'll find many fans who genuinely think he's doing a good job at the moment but there is so much emotional baggage that comes with Wilder being our manager. It clouds judgement and makes any conversation about change feel far more dramatic than it actually is.
That was a much longer post than I intended when I started writing it. To be honest I've wasted my time and I've wasted your time
And then the series of comments underneath?

This is a great post, I am also in number 1 group and if you could guarantee that we won’t get relegated then I would leave Wilder in charge until next summer then have a clear out of staff, players including Wilder. The problem I have is I am beginning to doubt whether he will save us from relegationI think the people who want him to stay fall into 4 camps:

It’s madness, these people are at the stage that if Wilder came round and set fire to their house they would thank him and still defend himAn example of what's happening beyond this forum...
Partial to balding ginger midgets are Huw and Phillip.Barry Bannan was caught having a 3 way with Huw Edwards and the corpse of Prince Philip in the back of a Trabant in a layby on the A34
Easy this forum guff.

Again the Sheffield United obsession of just being better than Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilder is shit now but we're still better than Wednesday so we should be happy.
Whoop-de-fucking-doo.
It's the same as the "We've been shit before so just accept being shit again" crowd. Some fans seem genuinely more comfortable with being shit because that's just us
Unfortunately we've had 600+ votes on here but it sounded like every single one of the 1,900 sung he's one of our own yesterday, when will they stop maybe when we're in league 2
