Whilst it is only one game, some fans see us a predictable and uninspiring and have done for a while. For me, it’s more a case of continuation of that than a knee jerk reaction to one poor performance.
I think opening games rarely live up to the expectation, so I’m not too downbeat or surprised about it. It is a clean sheet and identifies where we need to strengthen and improve, so hopefully we’ll do that in the next two weeks.
As I’ve said on other threads, I thought the end of last season was an ideal time to replace Wilder and head in a new direction, and so far nothing has changed that view.
The type of signings and again being slow in the transfer market is an all too familiar pattern. Wilder even acknowledged this last point a few months ago, and yet here we are again.
I’m not convinced much will change in our style of play from last season either but I’ll wait and see what the team looks like at the end of the window and how we perform in following few games before being too critical of performances.
