Wilder interview

Getting a bit annoyed with Wilder bringing all this to a head in public. We’ve had a decent season and have something to build on. If he’s seriously considering going to Sunderland he’s not the man I thought he was.

He could have had his say behind closed doors. All he’s done is bring negativity to the fanbase undoing some of the good work he’s done.

Chris has to be careful.

Depending on what Sunderland do next this could end up being Wilder’s Pompey moment.

If he’s a Blade he should just come out and suggest he wouldn’t go.

Him not saying that is only going to impact the goodwill towards him.

If it was Chelsea then fair dos but Sunderland are far away from that.

Having just got in from an early morning job, I feel obsulutely shattered and that got me thinking that all this with Chris could just be down to total exhaustion. When he moved to the Lane it was all hands to the pump in sorting out the mess that was left from the Adkins era. He sorted the team out and we all know the success we achieved in his first season with us. We were all on a high and for Chris it must have been a feeling 10 X more. He then had to ready the team for the Championship and with the exception of the first handful of games the team reached heights that non of us expected and not only were we in the top 6, but challenging for the top 2 spots. Chris must have thought that maybe he could get the back to back promotion and the style of play was no fluke and it got other teams to notice.
It may have been better for Chris ( and us fans) psychologically to have risen the division gradually to finish at the highest of 11th spot rather than achieve top 6 for much of the season and then witness the downturn in form and position. He must look at those results where we could easily have made a draw into a win and the losses into draws. He knew we were so close and that disappointment is now taking its toll.
This must be more of a disappointment to him and the poor guy must be shattered, physically and mentally. So what happens now is that this unrest is taking its toll more on him and is very easily upset by what is happening. Wouldn't we be the same if we put our own bodies through that type of pressure for two years without a break? I'm sure many of us would be seeing a shrink now to sort us out.
I'm as worried as the next fan of what is happening, but if I was Chris, I'd get myself on on early flight out on Monday to a deserted beach with his nearest and dearest, relax, chill, and come back refreshed with a clear mind and I'm sure we would then see a different Chris Wilder to what we are seeing now.
I'm sure this could be down to purely fatigue and I am convinced that deep inside he doesn't want to leave (and will not leave) but is using this time as a warning shot to the board.
He deserves our understanding and support.

The truth is only CW (and possibly his wife and nearest & dearest) know what his next move will be. The board doesn't know. Us fans don't know. And Radio Sheffield certainly doesn't fucking know. But that hasn't stopped Staton trashing the first caller on FH tonight who only said he 'hopes CW will be in charge next season'. Staton just came out with supposition, not 'news' and here come the 'I'm a Wednesdayite, but...' calls. Staton said 'What if the board gave Wilder X-million...' And? What if the Wendy board gave Carvalhal over £50m but he pissed it up against the wall? But we don't want to talk about that, do we?

A piss-poor 'radio station' with pig fan Staton in charge.

Rob isn’t in charge

If he’s a blade it doesn’t mean he must sacrifice his career on the altar of United’s incompetence.

As it stands he probably cannot do his job properly because of the boardroom mess. Blade or otherwise, being set up to fail in your work is no fun.

It would be awful for us if he left, but equally it could well be awful for him to stay.

The work at the training ground was required whilst Clough was here, did the design and quote.

Still waiting.

Is it plausible that he maybe more inclined now we're back in the championship and not hemorrhaging money to the levels we were in L1?

If Wilder leaves the atmosphere next season will be fucking toxic.

Might depend more on how the team do, if (and yes it's a big if) things remain rosy on the pitch I think everyone will move on without too much drama.

Not that I want him to leave though, not at all.

The board have to do their all to keep CW and Knill, they've been the best thing to happen to this club in decades.

Why can't the owners see the sense to release a simple statement?

"We both hold the best interests of Sheffield United and the fans in mind. We continue to speak and hope to update everyone on further developments as soon as possible. Chris, Alan and all the squad have our full backing and deserve congratulating for a hugely successful return to the championship this season."

Job done.

We need two strikers [pos 3], centre half, 2xmidfielder and a goalie.
Some would say a fullback as well.

He's only holding 6 cards at very best.

But he can walk away and increase his wages, probably considerably or he can go to the board and say I've been offered £X by Sunderland, what sort of improved terms would you be prepared to propose, in order that I stay ?

The current squad at Sheffield United has got nothing to do with it, from a purely personal negotiating stance, he has a full house, what's more, unfortunately he's got an agent whispering in his ear, who'll be hoping for a slice of that salary increase himself. :(
