The truth is only CW (and possibly his wife and nearest & dearest) know what his next move will be. The board doesn't know. Us fans don't know. And Radio Sheffield certainly doesn't fucking know. But that hasn't stopped Staton trashing the first caller on FH tonight who only said he 'hopes CW will be in charge next season'. Staton just came out with supposition, not 'news' and here come the 'I'm a Wednesdayite, but...' calls. Staton said 'What if the board gave Wilder X-million...' And? What if the Wendy board gave Carvalhal over £50m but he pissed it up against the wall? But we don't want to talk about that, do we?

A piss-poor 'radio station' with pig fan Staton in charge.

The way I see it Wilder might be worried about losing his job if the Prince takes over as his preferred choice could well be Rip Van Winckle who worked for the Prince in Saudi as football manager. It could be wilder is McCabes man and knows next seasons budget already which will be reduced if Kev doesn't find new investment. While CW should have kept things between himself and the owners comparing him to Warnock is way off the mark Colin spoke to Mandaric for the Pompey job CW has not spoken to anyone at Sunderland people should really refrain from believing all they read on Facebook and Twitter.

I'm still counting out Ruby's change pot, but I'm struggling to be able to afford both the club and an assault on promotion. #tinpot.

In seriousness, I'm not sure what I'm in a position to do personally, unless I'm being asked to provide the stamps?

In terms of the overall situation, I don't think it's as simple as some seem to think in "not talking", it's more that the budget he's been spoken to about depends on the outcome of the ownership wrangle. In my opinion, he'll know full well what his budget will be under at least one of the three options... he just doesn't know it's going to be that option.

I'd say he's simply trying to accelerate the decision and improve his position (where he is) via an opportunity presented to him personally - his stock is high, there's at least a couple of places he'd be offered a role formally if they knew he'd go.

I reckon he could easily go elsewhere within a week and make himself some more money giving himself a larger budget to work with, he could just as easily stay... at the end of the day it's his decision and I think one likely to be made sooner rather than later based on whatever personal assurances he gets in the immediate future - otherwise, why put the pressure on publicly?

Enough with the excuses, already. POOR EFFORT FROM ADMIN. Sort it aaaaaart !

:)

That's a very well constructed argument , with which I have a great deal of empathy.

At the very least, the place to deal with these issues is not via the media and, in truth, I'm getting a bit fed up with all this " you know me Rob, I tell it like it is" bollocks. It certainly lacks class and serves no useful purpose.

Is it me, or is he becoming more Warnockesque with every interview he gives ?
I don’t think so personally ISJS. Wilder’s interviews still have meaning and passion, Warnock were an embarrassment, cringeworthy at times and I’ve never once thought that about Wilders.

I think he’s forcing the issue because he knows that as the club’s figurehead he’s got to if he’s any chance of sorting out the squad, and the only leverage he’s got is his services. The two owners are the villains here, Wilder isn’t just doing right for himself, he doing right by the players, the club and the fans mate.

I've never said that ( or the 'In Clough we trust' which some fans said) but even the fans who have said that can question CW's way of handling this

Wasn’t aimed at you, I’ve just noticed a distinct lack of said comment since this whole saga began.

CW has not spoken to anyone at Sunderland

Almost certain that the bloke who is buying Sunderland has already sounded him out. He will have Wilder’s number, he'd be an idiot if he hadn't called him.

Funny how much shit Warnock got for flirting with Portsmouth, where he would have been given a bigger budget. In the end he didn't go but fans still hold that against him.

Hold on a sec, all Wilder’s done is state the bleedin’ obvious when asked about the owner situation. Take out the social media frenzy / media / bloke on talksport and nothing has actually happened.

As with so much in football these days, rumour gets repeated and reported until it gains credibility. But if you step back... nothing has changed since the February ownership announcement. Just a shedload of hot air and fan panicking. Jeez, the season hasn’t even finished yet!

I still don't see how it would work, whether the statement is public or not. Our owners are in dispute with, I'm assuming, different views, ambition and commitments?

For example, Wilder has mentioned in his latest interview the need for some work to be carried out at the training ground, now McCabe may be up for this he sees some value in our infrastructure maybe HRH doesn't. Maybe HRH says I'll commit to increasing the wage budget and providing £20million for transfers, McCabe can't / won't. How would an agreement viable and also acceptable to Wilder?

Unfortunately until the dispute is resolved I just don't see how there can be any statements or agreements.

The work at the training ground was required whilst Clough was here, did the design and quote.

Still waiting.

How long has this been going on?
How long has this been going on?

Well, your friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme
But I can't help but have my suspicion
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem

And you said you was never intending
To break up our scene in this way
But there ain't any use in pretending
It could happen to us any day

I trust (hope) that is the Bobby Womack (cover) version?

What sort of things do they need. It'd be interesting to know what it's felt would improve what they have at the training ground.

The whole saga is now starting to get on my tits. If Wilder wants to go then I want this sorted before next pre season. I don’t want this obviously but get the new man in so he has at least half a chance. The more it drags on it will be a disaster like the Blackwell sacking after the first game of the season. Wilder has worked miracles but let’s be honest from November it has been mostly dogshit performances. Is the timing of his outburst deliberate knowing he can’t take the club any further or is he out of his depth in this league? Who knows, but I for one am slightly pissed off with his JTW signings. The money spunked on Holmes, Leonard and Wilson could have bought one decent striker. Wilder needs to make his position known either way or he might damage his beloved Blades a hell of a lot more than he thinks.

Reading this half way in I was in agreement with you. The 2nd bit is shite.

I'm with Bruce that the first bit is better than the second, I think we've still played well post November and I like Evans and I think Leonard has potential and Wilder hasn't played Holmes for some strange reason.

But as for Wilder's ongoing situation I am somewhat annoyed too. As much as I love Wilder, I really do, and I love what he's done for us. I totally get he's rightfully annoyed right now. But the fact he can't rule himself out of the Sunderland job has put a dent in my respect for him. Its still our club here - the one he adores too. And to hear him in the past say how much he loves us and now he is unable to rule himself out of the Sunderland job, I think that's poor that he's even considering it. I wouldn't leave United if I was Wilder because if he is like one of us, why on earth would you leave United for another club, when he's supposed to be in his dream job. And certainly not Sunderland of League One. I get that he has his hands tied behind his back and the job is difficult at the minute but its not like we don't have a decent team is it. We can push for the play offs with a couple of decent signings and whose to say he can't get them done by August. To go now would in my view be very disappointing.

Despite my views above, as fans though I really hope we do all we can to keep him on Sunday v Bristol. I hope we sing all the Wilder related chants because even if he does go, he deserves a great send off and quite frankly we'll definitely not get another Chris Wilder. He is a one off and an amazing manager.

This whole situation is getting silly now regarding wilder!!.
If he wishes to go to pastures new then I'll be very sorry to see him go but given the current boardroom turmoil, I can understand why he's thinking that way!!.

Wait 'til Sunday, when people will be analysing his body language as he comes over to clap the fans at Bristol.

Was it a final goodbye? It looked like it to me, No, he was punching the badge he's one of us, Blade for life etc, etc, ad infinitum.......FFS let's wait and see, is he engineering an improved contract or a move away?

If he's the supporter and the honourable man he claims to be, he won't be going anywhere, but he's savvy enough to know that right now he's holding all the cards ;)

Trouble is he only 4/5 cards in a 11 card game of brag.
