The best news of the summer! What's annoying me though is all these premier league fans on twitter saying it's a good deal for a manager who'll be sacked by Christmas. They obviously have no interest in paying attention to us as things will go one of two ways. We'll either turn over whichever team it is they support and they'll be on moaning about how they just didn't turn up, or maybe we will get relegated. But one things for sure on the last home game of the season the Kop will still be chanting Sir Chris's name as one of if not the best manager we've ever had.
Having watched the blades since 1950, I can say without fear of contradiction (tin hat on), that he is the finest we've ever had, by a country mile. Next best was the late, great, Sir John Harris.

That's praise indeed rating him ahead of, as you say, the great John Harris.

Top man Chris. I can sleep easier now knowing that there is little chance of Tufty leaving in the near future. I was starting to worry that a treble/quadruple your wage type offer from a club like Newcastle might tempt him. As a man of honour I'm sure now he'll be here for at least 18 months more.

As a man of honour I would expect him to be here err...................................3 years? Because he honours his /our club, not pound notes. Priceless mate.
;)

I thought he did get one mate. Pretty sure McCabe confirmed it during the Town Hall celebrations."He's a lucky boy" being the somewhat strange use of words at the time.

I never understood that comment and thought it came across bitter. Almost as if the contract was begrudgingly offered.

I agree mate, the only reason I put in the 18 month caveat is, well you know, if we were ripping it up and finishing around 8th one of the big boys might come in..... even our Chris wouldn't be able to turn that down! ;)

It struck me as rather odd too. I just assumed he may have had a few or it just came out wrong.

Or, he meant it was a generous offer and financially he was lucky. Which is more likely now that he's been given an improved contract.

Great news!!!
hopefully the next thing (after some signings) will be the boardroom being sorted out.

I disagree mate. With all due respect.

My point in case you missed it is that Chris Wilder does not appear to be a man who can be bought, unlike most folk seemingly, who think money somehow has the edge over principles and the deepest love possible for our Football Club

People do exist that are driven by achievements not measured in Pound notes. We are not all that mercenary.

If his goal to get us to the prem was all he had in mind, having achieved that his head would have been turned by now i suspect. However he is still leading from the front. All this despite unsettled ownership. Enough to shake most managers foundations.

But not our Chris. He clearly thinks to my mind he can achieve so much more, hence the 3 years. None of the short termism we have become accustomed to. Let's face it,how many managers out there replicate his loyalty, drive, passion, clarity, ambition and sheer nous? and also get the backing to aid its achievement thus far.

These really are exceptional circumstances I believe, and our club a fine example currently of what can be achieved without the hundreds of millions we have some of us been mediated into believing necessary, to fashion a football club worthy of any fans dedication.

Chris often speaks about Legacy. That is precisely what counts, not some temporary joy ride and short lived glory a la South Barnsley. And by the way how fortunate we are also to have a comparative measuring stick within shouting distance, albeit a twig. ;)

Mercenaries are two a penny and perhaps why we come to expect the same. It does not go unnoticed that Sheffielder's can at times be a tad pessimistic.

Not I, nor the majority of brilliant contributors to this forum of ours and definitely not Chris,Alan et al.

I am sure they are all aware of the negative Nellie's who moan no matter what. I wonder what sort of shite he is subjected to by some knowall's in the South Stand come game time, but he of course ignores it and cracks on. Fortunately for us.

Now more than ever before, he needs our utmost belief in everything he does, every choice he makes,no matter how small or large an impact we think that might have. He has far from finished the completed jigsaw that is our Sheffield United and has yet to identify the remaining missing pieces to engender its completion.

I doubt that will happen in 18 months which is why the contract he has renewed will be honoured I believe. Time is our friend not enemy.

I don't think we have anything to fear,on the contrary.

So let's forget speculation and sit back and enjoy the next three years as much as the last three.I suspect it will be more Ferris Wheel than Rollercoaster.

And keep reminding yourselves how LUCKY you are to be a part of the magic. I reckon Chris's hat is even bigger than Jack's.

And we all know how awesome that is. UTB.

I wouldn’t call it bitter but it’s a shitarse comment to make when Wilder clearly earned a new contract by getting McCabe well and truly out of the shit. If Roland Duchatelet wasn’t such a bellend Charlton would be in the PL and we’d be stuck in L1. The only person who was lucky was KM.

From a money point of view, I agree with you (although it would be difficult to turn down mind blowing sums of money). I'm thinking more from a professional point of view. As much as we love the Blades, we ain't no Liverpool, Man U etc. If (and its a very big if) Wilder had the opportunity to pit his wits at the very top of his profession I think he would go. And if it meant leaving before his contract had ended then so be it.
