He da man....I have no idea where we would be without him....in a world of shit/pain/general disaster. Nice one Chris

I wonder if this is going to coincide with a big player signing tomorrow?
Hope your right but there are a lot of tomorrow’s and tomorrow never seems to come . However like someone else said he must be happy with his budget and also the outcome of the court case must have been a factor for him . Onwards and upwards !

The call for a ten year contract goes unheeded.......

Yes that is so, but it takes it to year 6 and the 10 year one would have had incentives for success with promotion to the Championship and the P.L. providing big bonuses and pay rises. The fact our manager beat any imagined plan by at least 3 years means the 10 year contract would have been blown out of the water at the end of last season anyway. That's fine, the whole idea would have been to provide our manager with the security to develop the long term project and he's turned it into a short term breeze. What a transition!! All hail the man, he's the Messiah someone used to post about; the one to perform miracles. What a well deserved reward for him and his support team and thank you Chris for achieving it in my lifetime, I had begun to never expect to see us up there again.

3 years seems spot on now that the project enters this next phase.

OMFG! and other internet terms that suggest happy

I just read about Fat Bruce and then this.....I can retire happily to my doss house for the evening now :)

Could not be happier. Well done all concerned. Let's make sure he and the lads get the most vocal backing possible all season. None of these namby-pamby paper happy clappy things they use down the M1.

Brill, if he ends up in the queue at two steps in front of me I’ll buy him his chips.

No matter what happens with Bruce, the fact that our manager has committed himself to a new contract, whilst the pig's manager seems involved in uncertainty and a possible move to another club just about sums up the fortunes of both clubs. At team level we've managed to show continuity, surely a fundamental of any team with ambitions to progress. Whilst over at S6, well they've a Chairman who knows nothing about football, yet who's been prepared to spend relatively large amounts at recruitment, but to no avail, Chansiri's gormlessness/arrogance has allowed a once hopeful fan-base to gradually realise that he may not be the messiah they'd hoped for. Now Newcastle seem to have identified Bruce as the man to improve their fortunes, and at least he'd have money to spend, whereas at the pigs he'd be dealing in food vouchers and coupons.

The next few days will reveal whether this has legs, but the fact that Bruce is even considering a move, well, it would make even the staunchest fan feel deflated. I know how I'd feel if Wilder ever decides to leave. Players may come and go, but retaining Wilder, and Knill, means we have a management team who're a cut above most. Our present and future are entwined with having Chris and Alan in charge of our team. We may have dips, but such is the cycle of contemporary football that it's continuity that is key to any success we hope to have. Look at Burnley and Bournemouth, two sides who over-achieve season after season. Even if Burnley were to be relegated, it's almost a given that Sean Dyche will find a way to make sure they return to the Championship. I see much in both these clubs that Wilder can emulate at United, possibly even improve upon. We have a bigger infrastructure than either Burnley or B'mouth, an advantage we mustn't consider unimportant.

First there's the small matter of this coming season to attend to. It's sure to test all of us. What we've grown accustomed to, winning home and away, probably won't be what we're faced with this season, but if we learn, and fast, then I give us a fair chance of retaining our Premier status the season after this one. One thing I think we all expect, it's going to be one hell of a ride! UTMB!!!

Twitter is unbelievable tonight, I didn’t really appreciated how insular the Premier League fans have become, looks like most of them haven’t even watched Championship games on TV they have no idea about us or Wilder.

Many Premier League fans haven’t even heard of him and Newcastle fans in particular are delighted at having “dodged a bullet”

God I hope we put on a show next season against the odds and shut all them fuckers up.

Wilder still 5th favourite for the barcodes despite just signing a 3 year deal. ???

Mind you, Mourinho is second favourite - that would be interesting with Ashley. They'd need special meeting rooms to fit both egos in.

As for the hot favourite, it would be a big step up for him. Mind you he has form for staying loyal to his current employers, so not likely that he'll jump ship

He can now finally afford to move house next to Pinchy? It's not all good CW.
Actually knowing where Chris lives I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris moves although it’s a nice house it’s not quite what you would expect of a premier league manager.
I’m sure his budget could stretch to a really flash house.

Why is he still 5th fav for Newcastle job then.............someone is

pulling the wool over our eyes. Sky Sports are never wrong.....are they?

Long commute in from Alderley Edge though.

The best news of the summer! What's annoying me though is all these premier league fans on twitter saying it's a good deal for a manager who'll be sacked by Christmas. They obviously have no interest in paying attention to us as things will go one of two ways. We'll either turn over whichever team it is they support and they'll be on moaning about how they just didn't turn up, or maybe we will get relegated. But one things for sure on the last home game of the season the Kop will still be chanting Sir Chris's name as one of if not the best manager we've ever had.

It seems like Wilder signs a new contract every summer! 😄 ...Well deserved and easily the best manager I've seen us have. It'll be a sad day when he leaves us for the England job.

I might be wrong but did Wilder get an improved contract after League 1 promotion? From memory I don't recall that he did. Which would mean in each season Wilder has penned a contract with us we have gone on to secure a promotion at the end of that season.

Looks like we're heading into the record books again - first team to get promoted from the PL! 😝

I thought he did get one mate. Pretty sure McCabe confirmed it during the Town Hall celebrations."He's a lucky boy" being the somewhat strange use of words at the time.
