Now that Brooks is packing his espadrilles and straw boater for a life at the seaside who do we have already that would offer something different in midfield? Not necessarily replace him, just a new way in that midfield/attack area and offer some of the freshness and verve Brooks did. Obviously we need to buy some people but just as it stands.

Nathan Thomas? I liked the look of him but he doesn't seem to figure in Wilder's plans.

Regan Slater? Seems like a good prospect to me, could he get a bit more attention now first team wise?

Holmes? Old but from what I saw of him was alright last season. Our best player in the Wolves away game imo

Any academy prospects?

Are we buggered without someone getting wallet aaat and giving us a serious wedge? Haha

Thomas is more a winger imo. Slater looks like a replacement for lundstrum, Holmes.. maybe.. not as pacey that's for sure. Wouldn't mind maddison from Peterborough. A man can dream...

OK. Playing that with a straight bat. All opinion of course. Slater is the best Academy midfielder at the moment. But, I don't think of him as an attacking midfielder. Harvey Gilmour is also a good prospect & maybe is slightly more attacking than Slater. Both are high work rate, box to boxers. The "most Brooks like" would be Stephen Mallon - attacking minded & got the tricks n flicks. Jordan Hallam was out on loan in Norway. Generally, more of a striker - but not particularly tall nor bulky. More come at you with pace & fox in the box. Great on dead balls.
We've heard the recently new contract Hired Hand no more ultimatum Manager Chris Wilder talk up Slater recently. But, in the real world - all mentioned have a lot of distance to go. None of those will be injecting any BrooksNess any time soon.
