Wee Jimmys only weaving when playing for us was on the carpet at the Daisy. Around 1am.

He didn't weave around that lamppost on Arundel Gate.

There was a great programme on BBC Alba about Jinky Jimmy, one of my all time favourite footballers, I was so giddy when he signed for us

Sorry PB but Jags was very ordinary in midfield (IMHO). Superb centre back though, the only Blade I saw who could just about cope against Thierry Henry as he matched him for pace. Good right back too but not a good midfielder. Not the worst keeper we've ever had either;)
I think the word talented tends to describe players with great technical ability and I'm not sure Jags fits into that category. However, in our promotion season he was very influential. Have a look at the DVD of that season and see how many of the key moments he was involved in, at both ends. Id suggest he was the most influential player of that season. I'd go so far as to say that if he'd broken his leg in November we wouldn't have gone up that season. As important a player for us as Deano was and Coutts is.

Each to their own BB so we'll agree to disagree. I would say Paul Ifill was far more influential in midfield during the promotion season. As a centre back though, I haven't seen many better in a Blades shirt. Including Jay McEveley!:);)

This is easily the most talented football we have ever had. So much so that it is in the Board Room trophy cabinet. A0AAACDD-40B7-42D0-A4B5-E7850CA1794F.jpeg

I’m in my late 20s, most talented Blades players I’ve seen are; Dane Whitehouse, Peter Ndlovu, Michael Brown, Phil Jagielka, Michael Tonge, Danny Webber, Colin Kazim Richards, Gary Cahill, James Beattie, Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton, Harry Maguire, Ched Evans, Paul Coutts, Leon Clarke, David Brooks and John Fleck.

Albeit some of those players may have only shown their talents in brief flashes and I’ve probably missed one or two out.

I've seen some world class footballers grace the lane, but very few had a right peg like Paul Rogers.

I once saw nick brown play in an internet blades game v porktorks

Jawdropping stuff

In my time Hodges was class but for me Borbokis and Jan Aage in terms of skill were right up there. Back to Hodges and he is was consistent he'd have probably played for a Liverpool or Manchester United.

Really?
Didn't jags win the best player in the championship when he played in midfield?

Keith Edwards if we’re talking about talent. Not the most hard working or skilful but he knew were the back of the net was.

In terms of pure footballing skill, JCR has got to be up there. Not a great footballer but very skilful in a Soccer AM Showboating way. CKR also fits into this category. Maybe you need 3 names to qualify.

Warnock described Danny Webber as having the fastest feet of any player he ever saw. His goal v L**ds in the 4-0 win up there is a fantastic example of an individual goal.

Hodges was technically superb, the 6-0 win v Spurs was one of the finest midfield orchestrations I've seen at the Lane.

Tony Currie in my life time but my Father in law who played with him said Hagan, dogs called Monty, pick the bones out of that.

Almost everyone has a bias towards the player of their generation.

Fans in their 70’s insist Pele was better then Maradona.
Fans in their 40’s say Maradona is better than Messi.
Fans in their 20’s say Ronaldo or Messi has been the best every player in the world.

Its almost impossible to compare. It’s never a like for like comparison.
It was quite a common saying when I was a kid in the 70’s.
All the old uns (including Wednesdayites) used to say to me “You might think Currie is the greatest but Jimmy Hagan was better”

No mention of Dean Hammond, he was absolutely amazing, we just didn't see his skills due to the unseen work he did.

There's only two on that list who had more talent than Alex Sabella, just a pity he didn't have their application.

Pure football talent and not athletiscsm? - Vass Borbokis was awesome for a while. Glyn Hodges?

In Last place? Bash? Monty? Love them both but they have careers by being superior athletes and pure bloody mindedness
