Thing is, Pinch, as many were all going straight out at ninety degrees in their trousers about the "brand new, scientifically proven Desso playing surface which would give us a 21st century stadium and improve our game" (or whatever the flying fuck people were jizzing themselves at) I predicted back then (in my mind, admittedly) that although we'd played in the cup semis and reached the playoffs, something had to give to pay for this daft folly. Sure as shit follows piss, Murphy is sold and we buy cheap, completely gash replacements, as if we'd all be fooled. Then its some surprise this season, after McCabe apparently cuts the ST holders some fucking slack and makes out he's not taking the piss and drops the price by 10%, we've suddenly run out of money after booting the shit over the posts and signing two (apparently blessedly good but relatively anonymous) players.

... and we are back in the room.

I agree with the jist of the post pommps but lets atleast give the board the chance to back him pre season before we go full tilt mate, there's still 7 weeks until the season starts, a long way to go.

It's just a reminder. He can try all the shit he wants.

The team needs at least two quality centre backs, plus one of worth, two midfielders and two attack minded creators.

Those seven players won't just grow out of his bless'd fucking pitch.

Where's the Prince these days anyway? And other notable members of the club's board?

Totally agree. Like I say, give them time and if they don't bring the required players in then I look forward to your posts in anticipation to tell them what for. :)
 
Fear not. As we speak, Kevin has his arm down the back of the sofa in the executive suite hunting for a few more quid to add to the transfer budget

Every other club is signing players who have been released because they are crap and cheap.

I'd suspect we are looking at out of contract players who have contracts on the table from their existing clubs because the club wants to keep them.

Hoping we are in for quality players who are weighing up their options cause they're a class above. Clough panic bought players and Adkin's stuck with them (probabley not all his fault).

Where's all the positivity gone things will be happening we can't go into the new season with no recognised centre backs.Get real for Christ's sake.
 

What I find comical, is the assumption Wilder will fare better at getting the players in he wants than Previous managers.
Past managers had control over who he wanted brought in...but not whether the deal was completed. All this talk of managers being solely to blame for past failures is rubbish.
Some players were missed out on because the board messed about, refused to spend on "X" because certain members of the board didn't rate him....etc etc. It's been a mess for too long.
Now this transfer committee is allegedly up and running, do we honestly believe things will be better? I don't, it's going to be worse IMHO.

businessmen and accountants should not be negotiating player transfers. Experts in football transfers should. It's not like any other business in the world, your average man in the street doesn't go to job interviews with agents and an entourage all making demands of employers to secure their services. And it's that lack of expertise and the certain splits and differences in opinion that will happen that will make this committee fail...again IMHO.
 
Starting to see that signing quality players is going to be harder than we think. Yes we can give em big crowds to play in front of but the status of that badge on the players arm is more important.
 
I am of the impression that due to CW's success in the lower division, it will encourage players to want to come. Couple that with the club they are moving to and I think players will be interested.

Unfortunately tho, with CW's hands tied behind his back because of all the players still on the wage bill that have been transfer listed and my assumption that whilst he has a competitive wage budget, he has very little to play with in terms of fees and with players high wage expectation when they associate themselves with SUFC, it is proving difficult for him to get them over the line

He certainly hasn't got long if he is to get the 4 or 5 players he wants to sign before preseason starts next week
 
Wilder will certainly be hamstrung by players he doesn't want.
The owners will not run the risk of getting in players to replace those transfer listed and then be stuck with both because we can't shift them.
As I see it, our issues aren't to do with getting in players we want as they are away on holiday.....it's more likely we can't get shut of the players we want out because they are away and not playing ball.
It's not like those out of contract will be pulling up trees to find a club and a wage....these on the list have a club, a salary and more than likely a pay cut if they go elsewhere. So they can drag their heels while their agent demands as much as he can from United to smooth a way for their client into another club.

That's what I reckon Wilder means when he talks about lots happening behind the scenes!

So I expect us to be actively looking for bargains and free agents....while hoping we can push the listed players out and free up the remaining budget and potentially some transfer fees!

Kyle Walker will have a brilliant Euros, prompting Barcelona to bid £24m for him to replace the outgoing Dani Alves, and we get a few million from the sell-on clause to bump up our transfer budget.

Why do we not have a scout?
At Northampton Wilder/Knill scouted and got the players in...what's the big difference here?
