I think if we start doing a Brentford and turning frees and cheap players into superstars we might just eat our words with this AI....hopefully

A few on here would certainly need to, and some of them would be big enough to do it. But it’s not a short game and it’s in it’s infancy, let’s wait & see how it develops.I think if we start doing a Brentford and turning frees and cheap players into superstars we might just eat our words with this AI....hopefully![]()
Frees and cheap i said and we're already one year down of the three!Who are these free transfers Brentford turned into superstars?
They've done a great job but it took them several years until they finally got it right. They spend money but kept selling at a profit. Are our fans accepting not getting promoted for 3 years?
Ollie Watkins (£1.8mil), Neal Maupay (£1.6mil), and Ivan Toney (£5mil) for starters. They might not have been free but they picked them up for cheap, developed and improved them and sold them on for significant profits.Who are these free transfers Brentford turned into superstars?

But they all cost money and not free though. It's not a magic wand. £5 million is not cheap for a Championship side back then. Nothing over a million was. We paid for Cooper and Burrows. Neither were cheap.Ollie Watkins (£1.8mil), Neal Maupay (£1.6mil), and Ivan Toney (£5mil) for starters. Toney was £10 million after add-one wasn’t he?But they all cost money and not free though. It's not a magic wand. £5 million is not cheap for a Championship side back then. Nothing over a million was. We paid for Cooper and Burrows. Neither were cheap.
Silly statement, for the level they’re both at now which most knew they would be able to get to and beyond- both were almost guaranteed successes. Both fees were very cheap really. But they all cost money and not free though. It's not a magic wand. £5 million is not cheap for a Championship side back then. Nothing over a million was. Half a Brewster, Toney seemed to have been in the lower leagues for a while, was he at Northampton the same time as Wilder?Toney was £10 million after add-one wasn’t he?
Still cheap if you sell him for £40 million of course.
We fucked up the selling part but Ndiaye was a free...Who are these free transfers Brentford turned into superstars?

Toney was there to start and I think was with Wilder as you say for a bit, but then got snapped up by Newcastle and was on their books for years. But he did a load of loans out in lower league from them with Barnsley, Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe etc before he ended up permanently at Peterborough. Then Brentford signed him in the Championship.Half a Brewster, Toney seemed to have been in the lower leagues for a while, was he at Northampton the same time as Wilder?
Maybe the jump from League one to PL might have been too much and he benefitted from a year in the Championship.
And made a huge profit upon selling himWe fucked up the selling part but Ndiaye was a free...
If you haven’t got the money to pay the fees & wages, cheap or otherwise, it all becomes academic.Silly statement, for the level they’re both at now which most knew they would be able to get to and beyond- both were almost guaranteed successes. Both fees were very cheap really.
