I guess it comes down to your definition of "chances."
I've seen Marsh play in league cup games and he's had loan spells in senior football and he's looked miles off it in terms of physicality.
I've always liked the look of his technical ability but it's meaningless without the former.

If he's now showing that he's filled out a bit and can cope with the demands of elite, senior professional football then that's great, but he hadn't looked a Championship level player hitherto.

Jebbison and Osula always had the physical bit (though, could look raw / gangly at times). From memory, it was Heckingbottom that messed them around with his half in / half out approach. He loaned them, recalled them, didn't play them, etc.
I still think there's a big player in both of them, but DJ's attitude seems to have hindered him.
Osula is already valued north of £40m.

Ryan Oné is similar to Jebbison and Osula in terms of physicality... although, I actually think he looks more oven ready than either of those two did, for first team football in a Sheffield Utd shirt.
He doesn't look gangly in his frame, he looks powerful, quick, balanced..
We really must get minutes into him and just be patient. We're not chasing autos (as we were with the others), we might as well blood him in... he's our only (potential) golden goose.

Give him a run of games ahead of the likes of TC, TC & JA. If it doesn't work fair enough but he can surely only do better than the aforementioned.

If he does well (and I really do think he would given a run), then of course we'd need to sell him.. but hopefully by then we've had a chance to enjoy him and he goes for a big price tag. It's been such a shame to see Osula, Jebbison and Lankshear depart without us ever really getting to see what they might do for us.

My fear though, I'm not sure Wilder is about the long term. He showed that a bit with his Summer recruitment (which lacked balance and imagination). He'll continue wasting minutes on Cannon and only play Oné if he becomes undeniable.

I'm torn on Marsh.

On the one one hand, we're a basket case at the moment. Let him go somewhere else, play himself into fitness and form.

On the other hand, if resources are so tight, we need him to be here, learning our system, given some increasing responsibility as we're presumably likely to use him more regularly next season.

I have the same thought, I don't think either option is good enough in this league. That's no criticism of Marsh, he's technically a really good L1/2 player. Probably similar to Louie Barry who has struggled when playing above that.

Marsh will have a really good lower league career & he's another one the academy should be proud of producing.

Ayew so far seems a waste of time.

For those debating Marsh's credibility at this level, id firstly:

a) Want to see him actually played in his proper position rather than that fekkin left wing spot
b) Be nice to see him in a team where there's some movement around him.

A club with our expectations is hard for young players. And a few of them are either really struggling right now or just aren't ready for the roles they currently have in the side.

One isn't ready. Brooks isn't ready to be our first choice winger.
Peck is struggling, Burrows is struggling. Seriki is.
Bindon and Barry have never played at this level before.
Cannon is crap.
Who can they look to to help them through games atm?

To resolve this we're linked with a 20 year old Swedish lad and a 24 year old from Coventry.

Ben Mee would be the perfect signing for where we are right now. We're got plenty of promising talent and they need the experienced heads to help them grow.

At the minute they're going backwards. As are we.
