I don’t know how we can still be talking about a lack of physicality when he’s scoring goals and playing well in league two. Aren’t the lower leagues supposed to be infamous for being more rough and tumble?

Cannon looks to have bulked up massively over the summer at a similar age, no reason Marsh couldn’t do the same if put on a proper program over a summ

Imho a cross between Duffy and O'Hare. What's not to like.
He could be our O'Hare/Duffy replacement ie the missing "Number 10". Gerrim back.
He's on a season long loan but we may have a recall clause - although knowing us we won't in either case.

I watched the second half. Marsh played very well, he looked good on the ball and kept it and passed it well.
Chessie commentators were also enthusing about his first half performance. He scored a good goal but faded later on and was subbed.
It's obviously proving to be a good loan for the lad and may be worth recalling him in Jan if possible.

I'd take using our youth players over signing yet more old players on way more than they deserve to be, all for them to stink out the place and/or be injured constantly. Wilder was always a bit rubbish with money, but he's proved he's also useless working with youth.

Jebbison and Osula both had far more opportunities with us than Marsh has had. He has made 6 appearances for us, none have been in the Championship. Clearly, he isn’t a Wilder type of player, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to develop into a very good player. Probably away from here, though.

Also, Osula was always leaving. His physical traits are world class and he's technically good. Jebbison was good physically and scored that PL goal early. Marsh is a potential 200+ apps United player and I don't think we've invested enough time in him when we've given so many minutes to players who'll mean nothing to the club.

For Marsh's sake, he needs to leave permanently and get his career started

I don’t disagree. But my hope is that he has a great loan this season and then kicks on and flourishes here under whoever the next manager is.

Admittedly I've only ever seen Marsh play in the daft cup games... but... at 22yo, id say there's probably a reason he's never played at a higher level than League 2.

Because, until last season, we have always been in a "results now" window and not had the luxury of being able to bring players in with the relative freedom of not worrying much about results that we had right up until we saw the 86836th post whining about VAR back a couple of Mays ago.

I guess it comes down to your definition of "chances."
I've seen Marsh play in league cup games and he's had loan spells in senior football and he's looked miles off it in terms of physicality.
I've always liked the look of his technical ability but it's meaningless without the former.

If he's now showing that he's filled out a bit and can cope with the demands of elite, senior professional football then that's great, but he hadn't looked a Championship level player hitherto.

Jebbison and Osula always had the physical bit (though, could look raw / gangly at times). From memory, it was Heckingbottom that messed them around with his half in / half out approach. He loaned them, recalled them, didn't play them, etc.
I still think there's a big player in both of them, but DJ's attitude seems to have hindered him.
Osula is already valued north of £40m.

Ryan Oné is similar to Jebbison and Osula in terms of physicality... although, I actually think he looks more oven ready than either of those two did, for first team football in a Sheffield Utd shirt.
He doesn't look gangly in his frame, he looks powerful, quick, balanced..
We really must get minutes into him and just be patient. We're not chasing autos (as we were with the others), we might as well blood him in... he's our only (potential) golden goose.
