What is the BEST goal you’ve seen us score live and the BEST goal you’ve seen us concede live?

For.
I was gonna go for Kazim-Richards or Pesch that have already been mentioned. Or even Jon Stead against Wet Sham in the Prem season.
But settled on Duffy’s bounce-slayer finish for everything about it.

Against.
Cantona takes some beating.

Tonges free kick in that west ham game was better than Steads goal.

I love an archetype goal - the one that if someone asked you to describe a certain event in football you go straight to it.

To that extent Bindon's goal at the weekend is something I'll enjoy watching back - the pinpoint accuracy of the delivery, the well-executed movement of the triangle of six attackers to draw the defenders away from the target man, the timing of the leap, and the control and power of the header. It might not be the greatest goal, but it's not far off the perfect headed corner.

Best goal I’ve seen us score live - Enda Stevens against Brighton in our first season back in the Premier League.

Best goal I’ve seen us concede live - McAllister rocket in the top right corner Anfield away when we lost 3-1 or Bruno away at Old Trafford when we lost 4-2.
iliman is on my mind against Blackburn

Best goal scored
Currie v West Ham

Best goal conceded
Curren v Weds

Took me a nano second

Best for Blades - Michael Brown volley v that lot.

Best for oppo - can’t recall player or opponent but prob mid 80s. Corner floated out to player about 30 yards out standing in a central position who caned an uber volley into the net leaving keeper standing. Think it was only a consolation near the end but remember thinking wow/fair play etc.

Sheffield United 23 Passes & George Baldock goal Vs Tottenham Hotspur

Sunderland’s second at Wembley

Gillespie vs Charlton, December 2006. An absolute shitrocket on the volley. Nice piece of lore to it as well as it features in that insane December 2006 MOTD Goal of the Month reel that goes viral again every other year.

Tudgay's screamer at the kop end always springs to mind as best goal I've seen us concede in person.

As a bonus, I remember being at this game. Wes Hoolihan almost scored an absolutely outrageous half volley for Blackpool against us on Boxing Day 2007. 1min 10 secs in.

Jags v Leeds will always be my favourite ever goal.

Marlon Harewood once hit possibly the most unstoppable shot I’ve ever seen at Bramall Lane. Proper thunder bastard. Found this - uploaded 16 years ago apparently 😬

Was it just me who hated that kit?

Few i’ve found that I remember

Not showing Waddles free kick.

This was another that I remember. I wasn’t there though so doesn’t count. Replay game after the Overmars and Kanu goal.

Alan Quinn v West Ham was a beauty. Lovely freekick from way out.
As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, Harewoods in the same game was a proper 'pick that fucker out' goal.

Jon Harley scored a really nice goal for West Ham in a 3-3 draw.

I think in the grand scheme of things it couldn’t really be considered ‘the best goal ever’ but thanks to where I was sitting on John Street I was right behind the strike so could see it arrowing into the postage stamp in the top corner.

Great bit of ‘swazz’ on it too

Wow. Don't remember that!! Was that before or after he played for us?

Long distance goals are great but 99% of the time miss, TC's quality goal is the best as he beats the entire defense, wrong foots the goalie and passes it in to the net, that's my favourite.

Dellas from 80 yards
Michael Brown against Ipswich
Brian Deane’s long ranger
Lee Evans

Tend to black out good goals against us. The one that sticks in my mind most recently was Harvey Barnes’s half volley. It wasn’t amazing, but I remember thinking that’s great technique and having some admiration. Probably last time.

Did someone score a screamer in the last minute at home in League 1. Think everyone applauded. Was a volley. Can’t remember the team or player.
Dellas from 80 yards 🤣, certainly felt like it at the time!
