What a steal

Which bit are you struggling with?
The game only being 90 mins long when it was actually 97 mins long (2 at HT and 5 at the end of 90).

You seem to be confusing how you personally describe the timings in football matches with the actual number of minutes played.

You don’t hear many conversations between right minded folk saying “I enjoyed that goal in the 90+5 minute last night pal” do you?!

A bit of quality won an even game, no steal, no smash and grab, nothing to see here :tumbleweed:
Agreed. Same against Sunderland as well. McAtee robbed their lad and the game turned on that. I could say the same about the point at Luton. Bits of quality have changed games for us when we haven't been at our best. To my eyes it looks like we have plenty of quality that can do that, I suppose the alternative view is that we are riding our luck.

FWIW - Brewster / Khadra making the goal is a great boost for them both

I sort of agree with you but using your own logic you should have said in your post extra 5 after the 92 as they played 47 in the first half! (As it wasn't really '90' was it?!)
No offence intended just being a pedant! Love football, love the blades lets just agree that most refs get time added on wrong anyway, and never add enough or put too much on, or just play on until the 'big' club scores etc etc

they are not extra minutes but replacement minutes for enforced stoppages.. the actual time of length of games is hardly changed
but with stoppages for head injuries drinks breaks and subs need replacing. most games in the sixties and seventies had few subs and games never stopped if one of the crowd fell ill

The Blades team spirit and winning attitude smells much better this season. Whatever the rights and wrongs of it, those extra points might be important come the end of season league positions.
Interesting to note that even when parts of our midfield have an off day, or they are tightly marked, we can still pull a rabbit out of the hat with our terrific substitutions.
How many teams will expect to see the likes of full on pacy attacking play from the likes of Khadra and Brewster in those last minutes of the game?
Well done lads!

I read somewhere that the ball is actually in play for only about 70 mins during a game, but the time for most stoppages - for free kicks, throw-ins, goal kicks etc - isn't added on.

these are all recent changes... 10 minute stoppages are now commonplace brought about by television and health and safety

you could guarantee in the seventies with only one sub and only 10 minutes for half time that a sat 3pm kick off would finish at 4.45 to 4 48pm

It's not even that long.

In last season's Premier League the ball was only in play for an average of 55 minutes per match.

I get what you're saying but my original point was just about the timing of the goal.

It doesn't matter how long a football match goes on for, the clock always stops at 90 minutes.

Anything after that takes place in additional time.

So Khadra's winner was scored during the fourth minute of added time, not the 94th minute.

No regular football match has ever had a 94th minute, it's not possible.
