Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else but Glen Nortcliffe and his team for being highly recommended for the League 1 groundsman award, the winner being Shrewsbury!
After years of having a shite pitch it must be nice to have something decent to work with!

I saw this on the football league email yesterday. Made me laugh a little.... you'd assume that Wednesday would also be highly commended then as they have exactly the same pitch, installed a couple of weeks later for a much higher cost... But no, they've had a shite pitch most of the year. Apparently they didn't get the lights that we have until later in the season.

Well done to United, it shows that we can at least manage one part of our club well! Although presumably we will follow the same rules as with managers, Mccabe and the Prince wanted us to win the award, so Mr Nortcliffe will be out and we will be ripping up the entire pitch in the summer

Only in Cult Clough can a groundsman award be a source to have a pop at McCabe and the Prince who gave their own money to invest in this superb pitch.

...ah...but who owns the pitch?
T'owd Princey's been done up like a kipper if he has stumped up for it!

Shrewsbury won it as they have grass the real stuff , but they have the advantage of sitting on beautiful silty soil on the river bank, naturally fed grass, in an edge of town site with little pollution

does help
our pitch is in the city centre of the 5th biggest conurbation in England
at the bottom of a bowl between the hills

Looking at the pics from last night it would appear that their poxy little stands don't block out much light either

Fancy that, owning a business and actually having to invest money in it. Wowzers.
