Agreed

However what if we get intel that Charles or Doyle would be available on a perm but we need to wait a week or so?

We rush and bring in Chodhury, then wolves bring one in, Doyle can leave, and goes to Leeds or Burnley? - we all kick off

Yes would have been good for tonight, but rather get it right for the remaining 18-21 eh?

I can see that mate yes. It's just a tricky situation as we are so light in midfield. One more injury in there tonight, and I dread to think....

Lots of if’s and buts in that thinking, you could be right it may happen it may not, I get there’s shit loads of brinkmanship between all the clubs but these scenarios are not helping our flagging players right now

I’m interested in what you think the club are doing. Do you think they’re sitting around watching Cash in the Attic and thinking “we’d probably better make a start on the transfers sometime next week”?
Maybe 🤔 or are they holding off waiting for other deals to happen to swoop in to get the cheapest deals, I’m honestly not sure as I don’t have access to the inner sanctum, all I do know is when they have to get a deal done ie Hamer it was done within 24 hours, appreciate this will not always be the case, 4 out of the 5 have been pretty much identified from very early on within the transfer window but only 2 out of the 5 have arrived 24 days later .
I’m just maybe there’s a better way we can handle these windows or do we always have to wait to the last few days/day to do the majority of our business

Do you want it over Quickly or done right...?

I mean we could've had a midfielder in earlier this week or earlier, but that would've closed the door on another possible deal for the same position which may have been better... Yes the player will miss Hull tonight, but there is a good chance we get them in for away at Derby.

To reference the fast show....
JTW is like making love to a beautiful woman, yes you can do it hard and fast and fire off your load quickly... but is she really satisfied? Or you could take it slow and do it right, with both of you enjoying an explosion, like waves crashing against a sea wall...
Swiss Blade or Swiss Toni?? Or both!

Hamer was done quick because we triggered his release clause. There was no delay in negotiations with Coventry because they were contractually obligated to accept our bid. Personal terms and medical then were pretty routine.

We didn't have that option with BBD or Cannon. Presumably we don't for anyone else we're actively pursuing either.

Just have to be patient for now. CW and the club know who they want, and how long they're willing to take over getting their preferred options. Judge them once the window is shut, not while they still have time.

The big issue here is that the JTW is simply too long. 34 days.. with the first 18 days a complete snoozefest. You could literally half the length of the window and reduce the length of this long boring "poker game" that the selling clubs play.
Yes, in fact it should be one day, the 1st of January so that the agent wankers have a massive hangover and bursting headache, and if they want to earn some money they've got to drag their spoilt two faced arses out of bed early

I'm sure some people thinking signing a new player is as simple as buying a loaf of bread from their local shop 🤦‍♂️

Very difficult
In addition to the selling club wanting to sell, you have to agree a fee, agree wages, agree bonuses, agree add ons, agree to pay the two faced cunt representing him a fee for doing fuck all, pass a medical, insure the player assuming he passes his medical, wait for insurance company to accept him, get him housed, find his WAG and Girlfriend a list of botox clinics, enhancement surgery clinics and nail bars and then arrange a complimentary account at the most exclusive boutiques, car dealerships and restaurants.

Is that what you took from this thread 😂
Soz if it came across badly to you, I don't diss fellow Blades. But I've found over the years that taking things too seriously isn't useful - so I try to have a bit of fun (especially ast the expense of the S6 loonies)! Anyway, I'm not knocking your right to an opinion but I still disagree that we need to 'panic buy'.

Burnley have signed 3 players. 2 of those were free transfers.
Sunderland have signed 1 player on loan.
Leeds haven't signed anybody.
If that's the case midnight February 3rd, I'd say we are in a better position than we feared.

But you could also be waiting for the selling club to do all of that for an incoming player, before they'll agree to sell the player we want to sign... But some people like to moan when we don't sign 4 players on the first day the window opens.

I never said about panic buying as I agree totally, in some ways think that leaving it until the end can push you into that position unwillingly if things don’t pan out as expected.
I appreciate you coming back to me and no offence taken, I’m just asking can we do things better moving forward

It’s not, but is it helping the long term aim to bring in the first available player rather than our first choice player?

Bear in mind Burnley have just got Shelvey for nowt, and he’s not worth that, after he returned from turkey IMG_5379.webp

The business we’ve done so far has been excellent, slow but excellent, today is the 24th and that leaves 7 days to get in 3 at least more players, whilst I appreciate a lot gets done at the end of the window we really are slow to get our business done especially with so many injuries which have decimated our squad and now Hamer for 2 games.
I really hope that firstly all our business gets done in time and we as Chris stated are our first choice and secondly the new guys look at the process and see if we can do better

Some women demand hard n fast.🤔
When I hear that,I go n put the kettle on🙄

It all depends on where you live , have you ever tried to purchase anything in India or turkey or anywhere in south east Asia , that makes transfers appear seamless
