The business we’ve done so far has been excellent, slow but excellent, today is the 24th and that leaves 7 days to get in 3 at least more players, whilst I appreciate a lot gets done at the end of the window we really are slow to get our business done especially with so many injuries which have decimated our squad and now Hamer for 2 games.
I really hope that firstly all our business gets done in time and we as Chris stated are our first choice and secondly the new guys look at the process and see if we can do better

Window shuts on Feb 3rd, so 10 days if we're being particular about it.

When the Premier league clubs have got their players in it will give us much more options with who they don't want. Good bit of cash to splash on the final day will see us with some good options I think.

Here’s hoping, I suppose this is another example of the premier league’s issues trickling down the lower leagues everyone waiting on their business for us to do ours

Do you want it over Quickly or done right...?

I mean we could've had a midfielder in earlier this week or earlier, but that would've closed the door on another possible deal for the same position which may have been better... Yes the player will miss Hull tonight, but there is a good chance we get them in for away at Derby.

To reference the fast show....
JTW is like making love to a beautiful woman, yes you can do it hard and fast and fire off your load quickly... but is she really satisfied? Or you could take it slow and do it right, with both of you enjoying an explosion, like waves crashing against a sea wall...

Disagree. We can only sign who is available and for reasonable money. I'm sure we're trying to get the right bodies in for the middle of our defence and midfield, however, the new owners won't be ripped off or settle for second best. January is a seller's market. Charles is a prime example, not unreasonably his club want to maximise the loan wages they receive, so can wait until Feb 3rd then go for the highest bidder. But if Wilder and owners think it's bad financial business, that's fine with me. If we don't get promoted, bad economics now will hit us during the summer. So far so good in my humble opinion.

Why did Southampton decide to recall him? I think Chancers big footy forum forced their hand

To keep their options open in case they didn't land their target Gronbaek possibly, who knows.

Its a very complex process of who comes in and who then becomes available, with clubs having multiple options.
I assume the process involves clubs submitting several bids for players in the same role and see which comes in as the best option.

Not the, just look at one player for one position at a time, model that some seem to think happens.

It's not like grocery shopping.

You can't fault the quality of who we have bought in, but as things stand we are running our fit players into the ground as they await injured players coming back, and for new players to arrive.

We don't want to get into the same vicious circle that we had under Hecky, where everytime a player comes in, 1 or 2 go back out injured. We aren't there yet, but in midfield especially, we could find ourselves in a similar situation unless we have 2 or 3 more bodies to choose from soon.

Tonight we have a fantastic opportunity to either pull away from Burnley, or put more pressure on Leeds, as they play each other next. Yet we are going into this game with Peck, Brooks, Burrows and Blacker as our starting CM options. One has been played to death, one is better on the wing, one is a LB who can't play CM very well, and the other has barely played any senior minutes. Having a Chodhury (or similar) available, who had been given a week or so to bed in, would be a significant boost tonight. Hopefully Souza can play for 30+ mins, to take some pressure off Peck.

To do business or not to do business, that indeed is the question 🤔

Burnley have signed 3 players. 2 of those were free transfers.
Sunderland have signed 1 player on loan.
Leeds haven't signed anybody.

Thats also true in most cases of recalls... but i don't think that was the case this time. Timing of pulling the loan was during the infamous fan forum.

We could be making our situation worse by holding off , if it’s down to us, by waiting

I thought all the 'gotta sign somebody... anybody' merchants were dark side supporters! We want quality not quantity. If not, South Anston Strollers have 11 players - we could sign them all maybe?
Is that what you took from this thread 😂

But what I don't get is why did they recall him if he's going to go back?
Ultimately, it's probably because they saw an opportunity to make more money off of him. Recalling him, and sending him back out on loan, means another loan fee, plus another opportunity to negotiate the covering of his wages.

Obviously there's the connection to make regarding the timing of his recall, and the fan forum for Chanser. But that could simply be a coincidence, and Soton were going to recall him anyway. Certainly more amusing though to believe that Tuna Man has screwed himself out of more money, just so they can keep a player that they would have kept anyway if he'd not said anything.

The big issue here is that the JTW is simply too long. 34 days.. with the first 18 days a complete snoozefest. You could literally half the length of the window and reduce the length of this long boring "poker game" that the selling clubs play.

Agreed

However what if we get intel that Charles or Doyle would be available on a perm but we need to wait a week or so?

We rush and bring in Chodhury, then wolves bring one in, Doyle can leave, and goes to Leeds or Burnley? - we all kick off

Yes would have been good for tonight, but rather get it right for the remaining 18-21 eh?

Nail meet head.
Sure we got fingers in many pies.
