So you watch other football then?

You must have noticed that literally every other team plays with inverted wingers. Other teams also buy big centre forwards and still play inverted wingers.

If you don't like it, that's fair enough. But you're laying into Wilder as though he's doing something wrong, which also means you think Klopp, Pep, Slott, etc are also all clueless. You must recognise that you're the one that doesn't get it, not everyone else?
I watch our tall CFs get very little service from crosses and Moore especially is not quick enough for the way we attack.
We seldom put teams under sustained pressure.
Campbell is better suited to our plan than Moore or Onay.
I don't think we create as many chances as our possession should.
I think we'd create more if we occasionally , during the game , swapped over our wingers , which would inject some unpredictability and put oppo defence at a disadvantage.

Look at how stale JRS became , always turning inside , despite the oppo being able to predict this with certainty and able to put 2 defenders on him.
Look at Hamer on the R assisting the goal at Millwall and scoring at Sunderland.
And he is a more 2-footed player than Brooks , who I think would create at least as much danger , if not more , from the L.
I appreciate that he scored from the R today , but having some variety wrong-foots defenders.

If you had the chance to ask CW for one change to the way we set-up and play , which you thought would produce more chances & goals , what would it be ?

Always thought larouci looked like he never knew what positions to get in when defending. Thought he just lacked football intelligence. Maybe that extends to the medical field too with him trying to help his keeper with a serious injury 🤣😱

You're linking this all to our team, which I understand, but it's literally what all wingers train to do nowadays. It's how all managers like to play.

JRS played on the right for Charlton on loan and on the right for Palace. His whole game is built around it, he doesn't want to play on the left. Just like BBD has always played on the left, Saka always plays on the right, Grealish always on the left.

I honestly don't know what I'd suggest we do to improve, I think we're the best team in the Championship and any attacking change could take away from our defensive solidity. We can certainly still improve, but I don't have the answers and I don't think you do either.

Maybe not.
But it is so tight between Leeds , Burnley & us , I am looking for anything which might make a difference.
We have a 2 point deduction which we can't avoid , the absence of which would put us top.
So you are right to say we are the "best" team in the league.

But a much inferior GD to Leeds and a slightly inferior GD to Burnley which edges us out of the autos.
The three teams have each won 12 more than they have lost , which allows for a fair comparison of their GD.

I doubt we can overtake Leeds GD.
But I can foresee a scenario in which our deduction pushes us down to level points with Burnley and I think we could try to end the season with a better GD than theirs ,
but we need to create + put away more chances from our good quality possession.
With that in mind , I hope we recruit a CF with genuine pace whose strengths match more closely our type of attacking play.
If we are sticking rigidly to inverted wingers and limited crossing , I can't see a place for Moore.
I'm sure we'd have scored a lot more with Campbell if he'd been fit from the first match of the season.

The way CW has organised our defence and holding midfield has been superb.

But I'm sure the speed of our transition and cohesion of our "attacking four" can be improved.
At least to the extent of overtaking Burnley's GD.
Which could be crucial.

Good summary - it’ll be very tight - good for us & Burnley that we have 11 home / 9 away whereas Leeds have 10 home / 10 away……plus they are away at both us & Burnley. Those games will be huge!

You have to admire the management behind this team. Five young players on bench, numerous injuries and they still keep winning. Shame this season is all about promotion. There is a foundation for a very good team, premiership desires will destroy this
Can you elaborate ?
How will ambition destroy the foundation to which you refer ?

Dozy fcker, the way the keeper cried out in more pain when that daft cnt tried to stretch the leg. Jesus wept, that alone could make a bad injury even worse. For example if it was a partially ruptured achilles that could lead to a full rupture.

if the DB days were now then brighton or brentford or b'mouth etc. would have signed agana & deano in the january of the promotion from the 3rd tier. you're quite correct the necessity for promotion trumps the long term approach. it is a real shame. if we don't go up peck, brooks, etc. go just like osula did.

Don't worry about GD. Them two deducted points are going to cost us autos. Blame the Prince, either prize tightwad. Or totally incompetent bookkeeper.
UTB

We had 2 goalkeepers on the bench, why did we not play 3 goalies when were leading late on?
Common sense isn't it? How could they score?
Wilder and Knill out, no fuckin idea how to select a team.
Yeh but , yer know , Football Gods ...

Our 3 goalies would all go for same ball and knock themselves out , so the ball would trickle in off the post

And all 3 would be subject to the concussion protocol

And to maintain the integrity of the Championship , the EFL would hastily change the rule so that they didn't exit the protocol until after the next league game

He did, and got an assist. (For Vale, against Donny).
