Keeping out of the way of people like you mostly while supporting our club. As I say, pathetic. While you were a hooligan some of us were bringing up Junior Blades in the same stand.

Hey, you are older now and yet you wear it like a badge. Think about it.

I left all that behind me years ago but this is a thread about the old days isn't it.

And just for the record we never involved innocents and it was thirty years ago

And this is what I feared when I started this thread. I don't think that anybody is revelling in past 'glories'. But when talk is about flares, smoke bombs, over-zealous policing, standing areas etc. I think it's useful to remember what it was like at football matches in the not-too-distant past.

The potential is still there and I think most of us realise that.

The 'readers comments' on that Mail article are fucking hilarious!

'It's a disgrace that they can carry on like this. Literally all Grandads should be locked up. Pay for this using the money saved by not feeding them in prison.'

Let's get ready to grumble!

That's where you are wrong, "innocents" were often unavoidably "involved" in a physical sense and then there was the mental worry every week taking your kids to games. Added to all that the reputation of the club and the sport was in the gutter for a while and for years it was not "cool" at all to admit you were a football fan. How times change.

There were places in the ground even in those days which were safe
Two thirds of the John St terracing and stand
The Shoreham unless somebody handy was coming then stand near the front or on the flanks
full of grandads and pipe smokers them areas
Just to reiterate I personally never saw innocents get hurt
