Was Basham as good as he sounded?

Holt is the type of player we've missed all season. Gets in the right areas but has good technique so makes the most of his chances, much like coady. No brainer to offer him a contract for me. Couldn't ask much more of him.
Agree....he works hard, skilful, good movement and scores goals.....yes, sign him up!

Just one in Game 1, just you - nothing wrong with that. I think you're wrong, I've never seen a more unlikely looking captain. To me he looks uncomfortable in most situations, nothing wrong with thinking that, it's what Clough thinks that matters - he might have even promised it to him to get him here, nothing wrong with that as long as he is big enough and good enough. Basham looks like the sort of player who needs reassurance every hand and turn, nothing wrong with that either unless you are a captain.
I'll tell you what, there's nothing wrong with that!

:)

Starting to feel a bit frustrated for done, but Davies hasn't put a foot wrong since coming so I can understand why he's getting a start.
Has he got a knock do we know?

Never said anything about captain - as for Midfield - I just agree with Clough about Basham.

Basham will ONLY play CH when we need him to fill in. If Kennedy stays fit I'd get used to Basham being first name on the team sheet in midfield.
Cloughs choice every time there is a full compliment of players available.
As for you thinking I'm wrong - said to you before - it really isn't an interest. One day you may realise that - but then perhaps not.

Sorry mister, you said he was captaincy material right back then in early season, which I questioned at the time. That's the point whether it be of interest or not. You know that as well as I do, shall I produce it?

Thing about a Forum is the records are there for ever. Some of us are willing to learn, others need to be right all along. They say "that's correct" or "that's wrong". I would never say that. I always say IMO, I never state another's view is "correct" or "incorrect", but you do, yes you do. Want me to prove it?

Good feedback? Thanks for yours.

One more thing as we are having a bit of a fall-out, rightly or wrongly, inverted snobbery or whatever, I would never ever call myself "Fulwood Blade".

Hey I have all I need in life, I will say no more, I come from S2 as it happens and I support a S2 Club. I have travelled the world and have lived in some great places and do now.

Never in a month of Sundays would I ever call myself after those other places or a name such as "Fulwood Blade" on a S2 Fans Forum. I just would not do that. One of my other usernames elsewhere is "fatblade" for example.

To come from Fulwood and to dictate whether something is "correct" or "incorrect" on a Fans Forum is not really on IMO, woops on this occasion the IMO is superfluous, would you believe it. No, that's correct!

How can anyone be unsure about Holt? Since his first proper game against County he's looked class and needs signing.

As mentioned Bash and Coutts were also great in midfield. Coutts showed he was a good player straight away even when he wasn't 100%. Even if he was leggy and not having as big an effect as we'd like you could see his quality. The only bad games I've seen him have were out wide, him and Bash are a great combo deep, especially in games where we'll have to defend.

I think I said he should be Captain?

Firstly, great effort from the fans. Sod all the knockers claiming we should have sold out weeks ago- it's tough being a blade at times, and taking that many to Barnsley fantastic.
Really proud of us today we sounded like we really did a job on them. I've been working today so wasn't able to go but I've one question for you...
Was basham the colossus he sounded on the radio!?

Basham was a colossus (exactly the word I used to describe his performance) today, he won all his headers, tackles and totally dominated the midfield. The way he started the season I didn't think he had that type of performance in him for midfield, but was excellent. Special mention for Coutts and Holt, two players I have thought were poor thus far, but played well today.

Holt cant do much more to earn a contract ,I think it will depend on which division we are in though. I think Coutts will be better suited to the Championship.

Seriously? Vote Labour much?

3 in 3. He kept on insisting he was a goal threat.

Does playing for a contract increase his level of performance? Can we put him on zero hours - play well sunshine or you won't be able to feed your family - or something to maintain this level of motivation?

(Btw... You are Veruca Salt - saw Charlie Bucket in the background and wondered if it was her or Violet - and I claim my £5.)

That whole argument went over my head. I don't even know where fulwood is.
Why can't we all just be friends? Especially on such a happy day like today.:)

Apologies to Fulwood Blade and all for this post, it came out all wrong. Lost my temper, obviously thought it but simply shouldn't have said it.

Good on you mate.
Apologies of any kind are tough, guessing on a football forum they are even harder. I'm sure everyone will move on, following the blades means we are all a passionate bunch.

I like having a midfielder who will challenge for the opposition's long balls, as it enables the centre halves to stay in position and stay organised even if the header is not won.

Good to see us scoring two goals from set pieces after winning headers. The shape we had at Barnsley was more similar to what we saw last season, and I think maintaining that will give us a good chance of promotion. Both Coutts and Basham have limitations, but our balance in midfield was good and we looked comfortable.

Freeman is doing well. Was our best player for most of the game against Crewe and looks very confident on the ball, capable of beating his opponent with trickery and energy. If we do move Brayford back to right back Freeman looks to have the attributes needed to play right midfield if Flynn needs a break.

As much as I'm looking forward to Brayford going back on the right, not only is he doing a good job in the center but freeman is getting better game by game too.
Obviously pre-season we need to bring someone in to play at the side of Kennedy but right now the side does look quite balanced.
I want to include done, scoogs and Mcnulty more but after that performance I'm guessing you can't really. We are starting to get "good selection problems" rather than forced ones, and it couldn't come at a better time

Freeman is one of our best players atm ,love to see him in full flight running at defenders. Good player.
