It's a fact of life, sacking the football manager can have a positive effect on a club! .
Because, as I and others have said before the fans opinion is important. I successful club has a manager that is backed by the board, players and fans.
There is a lot of debate at the moment regarding should he be sacked / shouldn't he be sacked. For me we have just past the rubicon for this season. If he were to go it should have been January at the latest. I think we have to stand by him now until the end of the season, he's spent the money, assembled a large average (ability not physically) squad and we are into the last couple of months.
However, the board should be deciding NOW if they have confidence for him to carry on next season. What we do not need is sacrificing the first half of next season proving if he is or is not the one. He's had the money, backing and time along with his past record to give the board enough evidence as to weather he is the one!
So if the board need to decide (if they haven't already) if they are confident in the manager the fans need to do the same. OK we can't change him but the fans opinion is important.
If the players sense the crowds lack of confidence it makes them nervous at their game is affected. It's no coincidence that Barnsley and Peterborough have won all their 8 combined games since sacking the manager. It's a fact of life, sacking the football manager can have a positive effect on a club! Keeping a manager in place that does not have the full confidence of the board, fans and players is a recipe for staying where we are.
Obviously it didn't but I the more important thing is that we sacked Morgan and put Nigel Clough in charge, has that worked? The club SACKED Danny Wilson and put Morgan in charge - I suppose that worked too?

But to counteract your argument - it might not be working as we all want - but it is working to a degree. The Clough project is in a poor state of affairs after the last 2 home games, but yet another kneejerk fan reaction will be no good whatsoever.
We are still 5th and in playoff positions. We should regroup and go again.
This debate should be at season end, not now.

One of the problems of using so many previous signins is that the only ones available are the ones no one else wants. It also says to me there is a lack of scouting in our club. After a Saturday game, players have Sunday off, then meet for light restitution training on Monday where they are supposed to also turn into a well worked unit defensively and offensively, in a specific (new) tactical set up, with the new lads thrown in, before the match the next day.
I think the likes of Brayford, Coutts, Done, Davies and Adams will eventually become good players for us, but we should keep in mind the context we expect them to perform in, a struggling team which didn't get things right in the summer and have continuously tried to rectify stuff that's not working.
We've hoped that it would help that many of them have played under Clough before, but there's little evidence of that so far.
Although we've eventually got some of our summer targets I think we are still paying the price of our poor pre season.

Wednesday sacked Megson and put Jones in charge.
Huddersfield sacked Clark and put Grayson in charge.
Both moves worked for them, so it's not like keeping a manager is the only way to succeed.

We sacked Wilson and put Morgan in charge and this didnt work for us
If we sack Clough then who would want to manage us? Maybe the likes of Dave Hockaday

The way I look at it is that I do not think Clough would get us promoted even if he was here for another 10 years. So we might as well give a new bloke the rest of the season cause it gives us a better chance of going up than Clough.

We would have to pay off Clough and his staff which would be very expensive meaning that we will have very little to offer in wages and transfer funds (we may have to sell more than buy) to the next manager. No manager with a proven track record would come to us so the likes of Dave Hockaday would come to usMaybe someone who has more football league promotions on his CV than Clough. Shouldn't be that difficult to find, he only needs one!
No but changing doesn't work for us. I can't begin to explain why but it just doesn't. We sacked Wilson and look what happened, we sacked Blackwell and look what happened. FFS how we sacked someone as limited as Blackwell and still bombed is beyond me but that is the truth.
Also, Warnock on the back of a couple of Cup Semis early on and a tilt at the play offs got several years to get us promoted so why not give the guy a solid chance?
We steer the course for this season and then see how next season starts. Daft thing is many had given up on Warnock the season before we got promoted and look how that ended.
I think football is an utter clusterfuck of a situation for a manager. Armchair generals dictate how long you have even though they actually have no experience of how to do the job themselves. Our attention span appears to be getting shorter so do the managers life expectancy in a job.
The differences between Clough and Warnock are huge.
- Warnock had already proven he could win promotion at numberous other clubs.
- In the seasons after the triple assault, Warnock wasn't working with the biggest budget in the division.
It all comes down to budget, if you have a average budget then you can get away with average results. With a big budget, the manager must be successful or he plays the price. We are a Chelsea/Man City in League One terms, so if they aren't happy with 5th in the Prem why should we be happy with 5th in League One?
Going back to Warnock, one thing I am certain about is if he was our manager this season with this budget, we would piss this league!
