Morrison isn’t a journeyman, he’s someone with massive talent/ potential but wasted it due to his attitude.
I’d say his signing has more similarities to Ched Evans.
Someone who potentially could be our best player and easily good enough for the PL.
The key word is “potentially” because he could also end up a waster. So as long as any contract is performances based, then we don’t lose much.
Call me a slasher, hater etc but I'm very, very worried if that's our strategy.
Scrap around for some championship players and cast-offs 'with a point to prove'? We'll be very lucky to reach 20 points let alone 40 at this rate. This strategy has worked wonders for us before, and who knows it may again and I pray I'm wrong and that this gets bumped back up in May, but this is the PL and is totally different.
Very worried.
If we do survive this way Wilder will have to go down as one of the greatest football manager's in footballing history.
And look how well Cheddy worked out!!!!!!
He’s only 26. PlentySurprised at Morrison. Isn’t he the kind of journeyman that Wilder doesn’t normally want?
He’s still only 26. Plenty of time for Wilder to turn him aroundSurprised at Morrison. Isn’t he the kind of journeyman that Wilder doesn’t normally want?
I think we need a bit of control around the superlatives.Hopefully his head is already right now, he's at that age where he needs to be fulfilling his potential. Wilder is that type of manager, ya best mate arm around the shoulder type that will hype you up and give you the belief.
It's then up to him. End of the day, he proves himself, he probably earns a move and a mega salary within a season.
If it comes off successfully it will feel fairly unique. Can anyone think of any equivalent player that at 26 had barely 50 starts to their name and yet went on to have a successful career? I can’t think of one in any of the 4 divisions, let alone the top tier.
How many of us on here have walked a mile in Ravel's shoes?
I don't think any quite meet your criteria but an interesting read on some late developers. Tbh the only one I knew about was Ian Wright

Have absolutely nothing personal against Wilder and would love him to succeed but as we all know its a results based business and we can't let sentimentality get in the way if removing him from his position is the right thing to do of course. On the plus side he seems a man of integrity so may well fall on his sword and not take compensation should things fail.
Obviously he needs time and support which is ironic considering the title of this thread but I think we should break this season into small chunks to see where we are. Others might disagree but I'd go with something like this:
Whatever happens he should get at least six more league games but if after then, either at that point or any other point beyond that, we are in the relegation zone he should go. If we are in the lower bottom half by Christmas and we have an adequate replacement and January plan he should go.
I would hope that there are some contingency plans in place for a new manager as club protocol. Personally I would go for a manager who has recent league 1 success and experience such as Chris Powell or Steve Cotterill.
But as I said, I REALLY hope it doesn't come to this but having been today we are a side that has too many poor league one players, and when you have poor league one players coupled with poor tactics you finish in a poor position in league one which is not acceptable considering the budget and pre-season expectation. Despite the problems (both on and off the pitch, for another thread) we can't allow a Micky Adams 2 and this squad should not be relegation material, but sadly this feels very like history repeating itself.
Let's hope he and the playing staff can turn things around, and fast. In the meantime as challenging as it is let's try to do as much as we can to support them.
UTB
If it does destroy our season it could destroy our club, could see players sold too old and league one in 18 months.
It's happened before it could happen again.
Ridiculous. Yes I'm upset, I would be delighted to be proved wrong, really feels like it.
IF we get promoted:
I wouldn't mind if we didn't sign a single player for the entirety of next season because:
1. The current squad all deserve their chance in the PL without anyone new getting in the way, who could also disrupt the harmony
2. That means we use the money to:
a) Pay off all the outstanding debts
b) upgrade the stadium where needs be, plus scouting infrastructure, academy etc for the next generation
c) Save up for the 2020-2021 campaign and long term be financially stable and/or independent of McCabe
3. I'd be genuinely interested to see how far this current group can actually go
--
Last thing I'd want us to do is to risk blowing it on a load of crap and struggle thereafter like Fulham have done/will have to
What odds did you get [on us getting relegated]?
Feeling 'tempted'
I look forward to next season, but I do worry that we are asking a lot of players to step up from league one/two and there's no guarantee we'll make it.
Bit more eloquently put than I was planning.... !Forgive me if I don't pay much attention to your opinions.
Up to date video of Ravel Morrison at Atlas

What questions about ability , didnt alex ferguson say he was themost naturally gifted hes ever seenThat’s the only similarity to be honest. There was no question about McGoldrick’s attitude or past ability, only his fitness. There are questions about Morrison’s ability, attitude and fitness that he’ll need to prove, and prove quickly.
