Surprised at Morrison. Isn’t he the kind of journeyman that Wilder doesn’t normally want?

Yeah true enough.
But when you look at who we are up against at PL level ....
Ravel Morrison has been described by numerous managers as the most talented player they’ve ever seen. If we can get his head right he could turn into one of the top players in the division and that’s no exaggeration.

Not really. Leon Clarke has actually played a reasonable amount of football for example.

I was more meaning the "journeyman" tag, which was usually leveled at Leon.

I don't know enough about Morrison, but experienced managers seem to think he has all the gifts if he could only apply them consistently.

Hopefully his head is already right now, he's at that age where he needs to be fulfilling his potential. Wilder is that type of manager, ya best mate arm around the shoulder type that will hype you up and give you the belief.

It's then up to him. End of the day, he proves himself, he probably earns a move and a mega salary within a season.

Morrison is as close to a no risk signing as we can get. Huge question marks regarding his work ethic but it's almost certainly his last chance to make a mark at a this level, if that doesn't motivate him nothing will! Fingers crossed it works out for us!

So we have to unravel Ravel;)
Think it will be an astute bit of business
Yep. It can’t be anything else than astute, if it goes well then we’ve got a top top player, if it doesn’t then who cares, it’s a free transfer on basically no wages

Morrison isn’t a journeyman, he’s someone with massive talent/ potential but wasted it due to his attitude.

I’d say his signing has more similarities to Ched Evans.
Someone who potentially could be our best player and easily good enough for the PL.
The key word is “potentially” because he could also end up a waster. So as long as any contract is performances based, then we don’t lose much.

If it comes off successfully it will feel fairly unique. Can anyone think of any equivalent player that at 26 had barely 50 starts to their name and yet went on to have a successful career? I can’t think of one in any of the 4 divisions, let alone the top tier.

Morrison is never going to reach his full potential now. That ship has sailed. He's 26 and he hasn't shown anything for years. There's a reason he's available on a free after failing to score a single goal in the Swedish league. But he doesn't have to be the Ravel Morrison that people thought he would be, back when he was a wonderkid. He just has to be a decent player, who stays out of trouble, and it'll be a good bit of business.

I love him and everything but ffs... Every time Chris!

We... We... We we hope that he will be, err, become a, a Sheffield United player player, by the end of, the end of the day.

Don't suppose someone could summerise the tweets, as twitter is blocked at work so all I see is "cannot display tweet"

TVM

The biggest challenge for Wilder with Morrison won't be to get the best out of him on the pitch. The real headache will be if Morrison starts banging them in, to keep his ego in check and keep his name out of the headlines for his off the pitch endeavours.

Yes, there are some similarities with McG but only in so much as they took a look as well before deciding to make a contract offer.

That’s the only similarity to be honest. There was no question about McGoldrick’s attitude or past ability, only his fitness. There are questions about Morrison’s ability, attitude and fitness that he’ll need to prove, and prove quickly.

Call me a slasher, hater etc but I'm very, very worried if that's our strategy.

Scrap around for some championship players and cast-offs 'with a point to prove'? We'll be very lucky to reach 20 points let alone 40 at this rate. This strategy has worked wonders for us before, and who knows it may again and I pray I'm wrong and that this gets bumped back up in May, but this is the PL and is totally different.

Very worried.

If we do survive this way Wilder will have to go down as one of the greatest football manager's in footballing history.
