CW does not suffer fools and does not like dealing with amateurs, he is also a man of principal and I doubt very much that the guy asking the questions has any respect from our manager and digs a hole every time he asks w question.
A good interviewer conducts a conversation which he steers in a direction to ensure he gets answers to the questions that he needed. This bloke is an amateur and a muppet who demands no respect due to his previous questions and his inability to conduct a professional interview.

Who's he even asking the Maguire question for? The audience? I don't think in a ~10 minute interview slot on Radio Sheffield any of us give two shits about the unbelievably unlikely situation in which Harry Maguire ends up on a £50 note, we want to hear about United.

I didn't think he liked the other guy that left to be honest but I think he actively hates this bloke haha

Attempt at humour on the Maguire question failed but he was doing ok until 6 minutes in when he asked the Lampard question about him walking into a championship job with no experience. Not a bad question as most people have commented on it but that really irked CW, he doesn't like criticising other managers and the interview fell apart after that including a reference to a tricky period of games coming up when CW had already said it wasn't a tricky period earlier in the interview.

CW doesn't interview well before games, maybe questions from other interviews he referred to about it being a difficult set of games had pissed him off or maybe he wanted his Bud AG to do the interview. Nothing wrong with Radio Pig mixing it up with different interviewers as it keeps managers on their toes but they've got to keep the flow going when CW has a bit of a flounce otherwise as happened here it disintegrates into meaningless drivel.

He should know that wilder only slags other managers off after we've lost.

Where has this 'Mike' suddenly come from on Radio Sheffield,. He doesn't sound like he has much local football knowledge and sounds more like he should be commentating on the local Rugger scene down in one of the Home Counties.

Even his interview with Freeman was dour.

"So, Freeman got called up, how he is feeling about that?"....

I mean, what's he expecting Wilder to say..."he's really devastated about it and is contemplating life in general now Mick".

I've listened to 11 seconds so far and I reckon it's the first question that did it, what a poor way to start off an interview that is supposed to be about Sheffield United. Why ask Chris Wilder a question about Harry Maguire and an inflatable Unicorn?

Was about to say the same listening now. I thought something was up when the interview was about half the length of the usual. For anyone that’s ever suggested he’s been annoyed with Staton, Giddings, Buchan in the past (incorrectly in my view), this is where he’s actually annoyed with the interviewer. A big miscalculation.

Somewhat unfortunately for Wilder though, a lot of these get chopped for the broadcast, usually without the opening question for each topic, so most will assume he’s just being needlessly ratty.

One of the worse interviews I've heard in a long long time. Absolutely dire from this new lad. Raise your game kidda.

Isn't he always like that in interviews though?

I love CW but he doesn't come across great in interviews, quite hostile a lot of the time.
Got to disagree on with that mate. I don’t think we’ve ever had a manager who’s come across so well in his interviews by and large.

Regarding this particular interview he did seem a bit more serious. Maybe he hasn’t quite clicked with the newbie presenter or he might just be having an off day. It happens to all of us.

I listened and was embarrassed for the interviewer.

Someone needs to vet his questions before he gives an official interview, the questions on Lampard, Maguire etc were pathetic.

He did'nt seem to have a problem with James Shield asking about Lampard in the Sheffield Telegraph,

But after backing Lampard to prove a success at Pride Park, the lifelong United supporter said: "It's a difficult job, we all understand that. Frank will understand that as much as anyone else.

"He's been a top player and you don't get to the heights he did without having that inner drive and determination. He'll have gone in to this to replicate what he did as a player. But it's a different ball game. You don't get handed anything now because of what you did as a player. I was asked a question this week about my connection with here. It will quickly run out if I don't win games of football. It will quickly run out the same way for Frank and for Dean (Smith) at Aston Villa. It's the same for all of us."

That was probably before 'Frank Lampards Derby County' dominated the media.

He's probably just fed up with it as much as we are.

Didn’t come across to me that CW was pissed off with the questions. Just answered what was asked. Think everybody’s reading too much into a newbie doing the interview.

Thought CW came across professional and thought the questions asked by the newbie were fair enough even though some could have been put across better.

The Maguire comment was an attempt at breaking the ice and what’s wrong with asking about Lampard and Derby County?

I’m interested in what CW really thinks as you can bet your life it pees him off ‘star names’ like Lampard walk into top jobs based on nothing other than being a top player in the PL.

Chris Wilder has done it the hard way and earned where he is now, Lampard has walked into it being a name.

If I were Wilder I’d have thoughts on that, and for me nowt wrong with a journalist trying to find out what they are.

Agree with your Lampard points but Wilder is hardly going to come out to the press and say what he thinks (I'd imagine broadly similar to what most of us think) so it just makes it a dead end question.

That's unfortunate though because I bet his rant would be hilarious.

Maybe get him after a few Peronis.

Sorry but wilder was been a bit hard work in that interviewer even if he was asking daft questions

Well the noob gets extra time from me after seeing Brian 'the Blade' off on Monday. Brian pitched in with the same shit as he did 2 weeks ago (and everytime he goes on for all I now); ref England, Southgate needs to go; Maguire isn't a left back; all successful teams play 4-4-2, 'and he knows he's been a manager'. McCarthy asked if he thought United would be better if they played 4 at the back, Brian said 'yes' conversation was over in about 15 seconds.

There’s a way to answer a question even if you can’t give your true feelings on a subject. So it wasn’t a dead end question

I don't see what the fuss is all about following that interview . Wilders simply cocking his leg up and having a piss on the newbie . He's now Wilders bitch and everyone knows it.

Well done CW :)

Judging by some of the threads on here this week, it's more than just the interviewer struggling to find interesting things to talk about.

You can bet if we were bottom of the league there'd be much more stimulating conversations going on, so I guess in a way we should be glad we're in this situation.
