Where has this 'Mike' suddenly come from on Radio Sheffield,. He doesn't sound like he has much local football knowledge and sounds more like he should be commentating on the local Rugger scene down in one of the Home Counties.

Leicester I think. He dropped a bollock the other week doing the sports news and said BBC radio Leicester!

Oh my God . I've only just come across this and it was painful to listen to .

I don't know abought CW sounding grumpy , I thought he did remarkably well to show such restraint given the nature of the questions he was asked and the manner in which they were delivered , which was that of a junior teacher conducting an 11 + oral exam .

In this situation , my own inclination would have been to tell him to fuck off back to journalist school , learn his trade properly and then come back and then , and only then , might I be prepared to grant him the favour of allowing him to interview me .

If this kid is the future of Radio Sheffield sports broadcasting, they're going to lose listeners in droves and I'll be the first one out .

Out of interest, did you have time to vote for Harry Maguire for the new £50

If this new guy on Radio Pig is the best they can do, then there's hope of my dog paying me board one day, I mean seriously, my dog could do better than that idiot.

There’s a way to answer a question even if you can’t give your true feelings on a subject. So it wasn’t a dead end question

Danny, I appreciate you have to be guarded in the interests of professional comity, but you surely can’t have been impressed by that interview? It was patently awful.

I wasn’t commenting on the interview as a whole, mate. Just disagreed with bromtom that the question about Lampard wasn’t worth asking. The parallels in how they have got to this point are so striking, it’s interesting and anything but ‘a dead end question’.

For what it's worth, i thought that the interviewer actually asked some interesting questions. I'd be keen to know WIlders thoughts on the leg up that the likes of Lampard and Gerrard have got as managers from someone who has had to graft his way from the bottom.

All of the other presenters ask Wilder about his thoughts on the opposition, often Chris gives some very light info and occasionally he spins the line about concerntrating on ourselves and not worrying about the other team. Thats a pretty standard question that will be asked of just about every manager before a game.

The opening Maguire gambit was a misfire and put wilder offside from the start in my opinion, but i also share the suggestions earlier in this thread that wilder was probably also letting the new guy know his place.

God i cant wait for some actual football to discuss.

I didn't think the questions were bad to be fair and right from the off he seemed a bit naffed, but I'm not sure we can blame the Interviewer. Saying that his questions about the future and who great it is now clearly irked Wilder because he's always been about one game at a time, which any decent Manager should be.Hoping its not something to do with the Board's wranglings!

I don't think for a minute that Wilder really couldn't care about someone like Frank Lampard getting a big club as a first job, largely based on his name, whereas Chris went to Alfreton and had to do it the hard way for 10 years. But Wilder's hardly gonna say what he might think just before we play them! I seem to recall Wilder having views on foreign managers in the game, not so sure on big name English guys though?

I didn't think it was a bad interview to be fair. He's new and obviously doesn't know the types of question that Wilder won't answer, but he did get a couple of decent questions in.

Everyones new in a job at some point, give the lad a bit of time.

So, are you still wanting newbies to be given plenty of time?

He's a part time presenter on local radio, not really comparable. And as I said, I thought the interview was ok. Even the messiah lost his first three games for us.

I don’t listen to them. I haven’t listened to managers’ interviews for years. They can’t say anything interesting because it just gets turned round and used as a stick to beat them with.

Imagine if Wilder had said ‘Lampard should have done a proper apprenticeship before being parachuted into a job as big as Derby, he’s been employed solely on his reputation as a player rather than his coaching ability and experience’ then immediately people would be saying he’s disrespectful and ‘he’s done Lampard’s team talk for him’.

I caught the back end of a Big Match from 1977 last night with Moore interviewing Don Howe and Stuart Pearson about the Leeds v Man U match they’d just shown. Howe, at the time, was a coach at Leeds. Some of his criticism of his own players was astounding, by modern standards. And bollocks really, schoolboy shit. The kind of thing Mourinho gets hammered for but less incisive.

Chris seems a bit pissed off in his interview ..not sure if he likes the new guy from radio sheff or what but there was no laughing and joking like he does with Andy Giddings ..
