When did SWFC last beat us?
13 years or so. We have had great dominance over SWFC since 2017.
I don't think Man U went 13 years without losing to Man City.
It might be 13 years since they last beat us, but we have only played them 7 times since then.
As PeterNdlovu081 mentioned, going into the game it did not feel like it was going to be a formality at all. Far from it.
I think registering the biggest ever away margin of victory in a Sheffield derby in a (so far) terrible season is something to celebrate.
We beat them in 3rd gear, they had nothing. It was like Ant vs Boot.It wasn't a formality 24.000 of them turned up....
Think we just ended Bannans football carreer, he will quit after shitting the bed and hiding for 80 minutes, watch them all turn on him now.. surplus to requirements even before the new money turns up, you watch them fickle fans bin him off..
The OP must not live or work in sheffield if thats his reponse after that fantastic hammering.
Should have scored 6...fingers crossed for the return at the lane.

FalseThe City/Rovers and Forest/County examples aren't really a proportional comparison. Notts county are in the fourth tier and at a guess average under 10k, while Forest are in Europe. Obviously the disparity isn't quite as vast between the Bristol clubs, but one is still undeniably more dominant and the bigger club.
Us and the pigs are/were on a level footing, and prior to that we were regarded as the underdogs. It's only the Millennials and above that regard us as the better and more successful side.
With that said, a small part of me was cringing towards the end. By all means celebrate but given our general level of performance and results this season I am inclined to agree it was a bit OTT.
Still loved it!
The fans can celebrate as much as they want of course (don't need my permission) , its the players and management about which I am referring.
(Putting this on a separate post so not to clog the main one up)
Yesterday sort of reminded me of this:
Yes we have had a miserable season, and if its good for morale then I'm all for it, but if we put in a dire performance against Portsmouth we will all feel a bit silly.
Delighted with the win, but with how weak they were, we should expect to win 'as standard'. They are a league one club, we are not (yet). Waddle, as much as we don't like him, was right- they had a threadbare squad. We should aspire to be more than simply being better than them.
Appreciate this will probably be very unpopular and I'm in a minority I know but it did seem a bit tinpot taking team photos (even if we did it last year) and took a tiny bit of the shine away.
We (players and management) should have just walked around applauding the fans as usual and make then head down the tunnel and focus on preparing for Portsmouth.
They really need to get their story straight though. When convenient we are an expensively assembled team of premier league quality players that we attained by the cheat code that is parachute payments. At other times the same players are rubbish, no idea what the fuss is all about, they wouldn’t make our starting 11. Peck is a great example, they can’t wait to say how he has never shown anything, that Amass is much better and they know who they would rather have. Ditto Hamer, apparently not as good as he is made out to be and is a poor man’s Bannan.I had an interesting interaction with a friend on Social Media after he commented on a post/image I posted about the City being red.
He's a Barnsley fan and criticised the post saying that it was akin to him as a Barnsley fan celebrating in the way we did if they beat a Dearne and District 11 and made reference to their weak side and our side costing over 100 Million and it being the expected result.
I pointed out that it was at our bitter rivals in a game on their own patch in a season where we have had little to shout about (so far).
It then got me thinking (and I responded as such) that there is a misguided belief that we have a squad full of multi million pound signings. Looking at the team that started, we had
Cooper - 2-3 Million signing
McCallum - Free
Mee - Free
Tanganga - 5-6 Million
Seriki - Academy
O'Hare - Free
Riedewald - Free
Peck - Academy
Brooks - Academy
Ings - Free
Campbell - Free
Only 2 players we have paid a fee for.
Of the subs
Hamer - Big fee 10-15 Million
Cannon - Decent fee 5 Million rising on clauses?
Burrows - 2-3 Million
Bamford - Free
McGuinness - 3 Million?
Cant remember who else but dint think any fees were paid.
Yeah we have a few players who cost some money but a large part of that squad were frees or academy players who came in to replace the players lost after our relegation and also after losing players like Ahmedhodzic, Vini Souza and Moore for decent sized fees.
I dont see much wrong with the celebrations and you can guarantee that their lot would have gone crazy with celebrations if they won (remember their celebrations and throwing shirts into the crowd after their 0-0 victories not so long ago?)
I'm going to be as respectful as I possibly can.Fair play to those who read what I actually said and engaged with it constructively and respectfully even if disagreeing vehemently.
Judging by the reaction I was right in predicting that my views on this would be in the minority (around 3-5%).
C'est la vie- and this is exactly what a forum is for! I do hope others are not deterred from sharing unpopular opinions in the future.
Ultimately, I hope this all doesn't matter and we move on and beat Portsmouth etc. and salvage our season.
Great wasnt it..We beat them in 3rd gear, they had nothing. It was like Ant vs Boot.
Worth celebratingView attachment 226196
I think it's been mentioned once already on here by someone, the players are screwed either way. If they had just gone down the tunnel at full time I do think there'd be a much higher outrage that this was just seen as another calender victory. If we had played Stocksbridge Steels and celebrated like that then maybe comment but this a different matter.I'm going to be as respectful as I possibly can.
This and the OP is the worst set of drivel I've read since I started surfing the internet. It's that bad.
Imagine living such an utterly joyless life.
You've allowed a few tweets from clickbait accounts get in your head and make you feel you shouldn't enjoy a 3-0 win against our biggest rivals away from home. It's kind of embarrassing.
Football is meant to be enjoyed, I'd have wanted us to celebrate like that if we were playing their under 14s.
I'm with this idea. Sparks did it at Royal Albert Hall and Gene did it a couple of weeks ago at Hammersmith. I can't see what the fuss is all about. Fans kept behind so players and staff get a photo with fans behind. It's just like a band taking a picture with the fans in the background after a gig. Let's make it a thing and do it every time we win (a corner).
I was first taken to the lane as a boy when the Currie and Woodward team was in its pomp. Being an out of towner I didn’t even know SWFC existed till the 1979/89 season…It was a fucking shock to meFalse
Those of us that grew up 60s & 70s only knew the Wendy as a shit third division club.
They had a run during the 80s and early 90s is all.
Older, bitter, shitter
Are you nine years old?Roy Keane would agree with me.
Agree with much of the above, but two things can true at the same time- imho it was ott to take a team photo like we did, though I accept and respect the majority on here don't agree.
Personally I would like to reach a stage of us being indifferent to them “The opposite of love isn’t hate; it’s complete and utter indifference.”
That's how Man U were towards Man City for decades- indifference is the greatest insult there can be.
