United or Wednesday

I take it you've asked the same question on their fan's forum? I wonder how they responded?
My intention was (and still is) to go and ask them the same question a week following my initial post. Although, I am surprised at the response rate I have received and may speed it up and ask them in the next day or two. Not sure if United fans crossing over to wednesday's forum is something welcomed or not but can I ask you (and others) to not to interfere over there as I would like to get a perspective from them solely as a fan base.
Cheers

Don't worry
We've got a Roygbiv for that ;)

Can I also add,we're way,way more cooler and original than them...yes,you only have to listen to their songs that don't contain hardly any words that they nicked off us or another club, but then claim they've been singing it for years.
I don't really need to mention that shit Band....The Blades would never have anything as uncool and plastic as that...infact if The Blades did music we'd be more say Red Hot Chilli Peppers, while they'd be someone like Brotherhood of Man...We'd be Otis Redding, them Rick Astley,or maybe be someone like NWA,while they would be Vanilla Ice....I'm trying to think of any plus points for that lot to be fair, but there aren't any...I wouldn't even consider that lot to be honest if I was you..no,they haven't any good points.

Hello everyone,
Wasn't quite sure where to put this but I was looking to get your help.
I am currently a college student in New York and have been given an opportunity which requires me to live in Sheffield for a year. I love football/soccer (don't hate on the word, it originates from Oxford University) and have been a member of New York Red Bulls since its foundation as well as playing all my life. Anyway, one of the main things I am looking forward to is getting a season ticket at one of the Sheffield clubs, either United or Wednesday, but I am having trouble deciding who to go for. When I was looking into this last year it seemed an obvious decision to choose Wednesday due to the Championship football on offer although that benefit is likely to be equalled as United look set to be promoted.
Why am I here wasting your time on the forum? Basically I want to get the fans opinion to try and persuade me and give me a reason to choose their club. Due to other sports teams I support in the US (red and white colours) and the fact Bramall Lane will be a bit easier to access from where I am staying I have decided to ask you guys first.
I appreciate any advice given though please keep comments constructive, saying things like they are pigs (I know you call each other that) and hillbillies isn't an argument. Match day experience, fan culture, players, history would be preferable.
Thanks
If you want history, visit the blades museum whilst your here and make sure you go watch the mighty red and white wizards in action. Once you have, you will never need to go any further north.

If you want an honest answer you could always ask ex-Wednesday players - most of them would tell you if you want a traditional family-oriented club with proper respect for their fans and for their ex-players they would tell you to head for Bramall Lane. I could give you a thousand other reasons but you might think I'm biased, so find yourself some guys who used to wear the blue and white and ask them...........

If you're going to start talking all sensible like I may have to reconsider my opinion, and remember this my friend IF you decided not to join us and you join them you will become a fuckin hillbilly pig, now if that doesn't make your mind up I feel for you and your family ;-)

Not so long ago you could have bought them for a pound...If you do go down there, ask them about Kaye,Swan and Lane...mention Mike Trebilcock it will go down well...Steer clear of mentioning attendances, they're a bit shy about such things, and tend to play it down.Good luck.

Funny you should mention them. Here's another Blade, no other than Flea himself singing our anthem. As you said way more cool:

More cooler?

MORE COOLER?

MORE COOLER?!

MORE FUCKING COOLER?!

Is there anywhere you can still get Magnet?

I loved the stuff and used to frequent the Dog & Partridge on Trippet Lane regularly for a tipple until they replaced with Wards several years ago. Can’t seem to find it anywhere these days. I assumed they stopped making it.

Farm Road Sports and Social Club, behind Silver Blades/Mecca or whatever it is now. At least they did a couple of years ago. I was there for a friend's wake and had a gallon and then some. It's what he would have wanted.

The roller-coaster of last night's match took our attention away from this. I think you have plenty of views to think about, so is now the time for you to seek responses elsewhere, and let us know later how it works out? I am sure you will have a great year; I hope it includes footy at the Lane, but whatever you do, make the most of your opportunities - just like Billy Sharp does!

If you want to go to the match and bounce up and down like a child with adhd, to the sound of some trumpets and drums, go to hillsborough.

If you want to participate in a proper old fashioned bear pit...come to the lane!

The bear pit analogy is funny.

We've only just got some proper gnarly bears in. The last few we've had have been lame, confused and a bit frightened of a proper attack :D

Go and see both a few times and make your mind up.

I did.

No contest.

Blades!

It's a fantastic club. Down to earth. A pillar of the local community and as loyal to its fans as it fans are to it.

No arrogance - quite the opposite actually. And when other local clubs -like Rotherham - we're in trouble we helped them out with money and players.

The same cannot be said of Wednesday.

Next season they will both offer Championship football but one team will be sweating blood for the fans - the other will be poncing around with Prima Donnas who think they are too good for the place.

Easy decision really!

I'm still waiting for my account to be approved...

They're all too busy arguing with each other to push that approval button! o_O

Whilst over here all is calm, peaceful and right in the world.

Seeing as you have a bit more time to savour things Red n White I thoroughly recommend you having a look through the thread entitled 'Old photos for no reason whatsoever...' ..its quite a fascinating little trip down memory lane brought to life by the good folk on here who saw them, they have good memories on here!

Hi , i moved to Sheffield in the sixties from London and stayed. I lived on Ecclesall Rd and loved it.
I also loved football and went to Hillsborough first with a mate at work several times It was ok but the area and the fans lacking something. I was an outsider so not biased on anything.
One evening United played Arsenal and i went with a mate. Walked to the ground from where i lived easily in a good area with good pubs and great atmosphere.
I have never experienced accoustics like it at a football ground. I never went to Hillsborough again and have been a season ticket holder ever since.
For a student it's a no brainer going to the Lane. It's unique with its layout and position right in the city. So convenient for everything.Have a great time. I have.
