​ Great cause below and me and my son are playing. I've not played 11 a side for a looooong time. Not even got any boots anymore so might be playing in pumps!​ I am sure my rating out of 10 will be very low! Chance for people to get their own back after years of terrible/low marking... ​ Sheffield United v Rainbow Blades​ TICKETS NOW ON SALE! The United for All charity match returns and for the first time ever will be held at Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane. Come down to the Lane and support your fellow Blades as together we raise funds for an important cause - our community foundation’s Empower LGBTQ+ project. The United for All Charity Match will be on on Saturday 25th May with a 12 noon kick off. The teams will be mixed gender & consist of Rainbow Blades and Allies, and the match will last a full 90 minutes! Think Soccer Aid, but BDTBL version… for some of our players, it will be their first time on a full size pitch, so bring down your chants and keep them going.

We can’t wait for the big day. Here’s everything you need to know: Supporters are welcome to arrive from 10.30am and kick off is at 12 noon Trophy/medal presentations will conclude around 2pm Food/beverage kiosks will not be open for this match, so you are welcome to bring your own refreshments into the stadium Please enter through turnstiles 68-73 on Cherry Street

Do yourself a favour, buy a cheap pair of boots from Decathlon, or somewhere like that, and make the most of the day. Playing on the hallowed turf should be a memory for the rest of your life, enjoy it mate.

If me and the Mrs are around that weekend, we will come down, you'll know we are there as we will be the people booing as you make your onto the pitch.

Looking forward to this tomorrow, bringing my girls for their first trip to BDTBL. Seems like a safer first time than them getting bored and grumpy surrounded by 30,000 bored and grumpy people

Just wanted to add that my two girls had a great time yesterday, felt great to be able to share something that means so much to me with them and to see them enjoying football at BDTBL was very special. Not sure they are ready for 30,000 people though...

An excellent match, well supported and great to see people enjoying the football.

Part of what I love about our club comes from what is the Sheffield community which I find to be welcoming, friendly and makes me feel at home. In the space of arriving, walking to the ground, at least 4 adults said something friendly to my girls, made me very proud of Sheffield and of them. This is why I thought it was such a great occasion and cause. We are for everyone (except pig fans...)


Also just to add Deadbat put on a display of which the forum could be proud and I believe has added an extra level of credibility to his already thorough match analysis. Bit of an ITK here but I believe the director of football role is actually going his way, a very bladey blade appointment. I did spot him pigeon watching at one point and his tracking back was about as energetic as Grbic diving to make a save, but you can't ask for everything!

Yeah was a brilliant day. Rainbow Blades and James deserve so much credit for puttingbit together.

Going through the players entrance, seeing my shirt on a hook and getting changed in the home dressing room was all surreal. Warming up on the pitch and then playing with my son was amazing.
 
Although am 46 now. My son played and he is only 16 but I think I ran more than him but it was hard going! There were far better players in action and much younger but the experience was all that mattered!

No idea why they put me up top! I got kind of isolated. Should have played at the back as there was a lot more action there. Pitch was really bobbly too. If I had to score myself be 5/10 at best. Bounced off me a few times and struggled to get in the game 1st half. I was a 'bit' better 2nd half...

Here is the extent of my pace though...

What an experience! Thoroughly merited for all your work this (and every) season mate. Must be a dream come true to play on the hallowed turf.

I played in the last one at the Olympic Legacy Park in 2022. I would have loved to play in this one, but not medically fit. I did get to go in through the player's entrance, and got on the pitch for the warmup (although, spent more time retrieving footballs than goalkeeping!)

The whole thing was fantastic, and that it happened at Bramall Lane was just the most amazing thing. The teams consisted of men and women, ranging from late teens, to late forties (and possibly more, but I'm being polite).

The first half started with United scoring first, and then doubling their lead, dominating the first ten minutes of the game. Rainbow Blades then started to gain ground, and United started to tire. (where have we seen that before?) United's goalkeeper did really well, making some good stops, and soaking up some pressure, before Blades finally scored. That let the floodgates open, as within a few minutes, they scored again and equalised. Three more in quick succession saw Blades leading 5-2 at halftime.

The second half kicked off and United quickly scored a goal. 5-3, and their tails were up. Two more goals followed quickly and suddenly, the game was level. United had hope and it looked like the tables were turned. Blades had other ideas though, and five nervy minutes later, they scored again. 6-5 to Rainbow Blades, and it really felt like next goal would be the winner. That went to Rainbow Blades, but then so did the next, and the next. Apart from one consolation goal, Rainbow Blades dominated the remaining time, and were scoring for fun. Sheffield United collapsed in the second half, as it seems has been the story for most of the season. The final whistle blew and the crowd went wild.

It doesn't matter what the score was. The winners were everyone who attended, players, spectators and most notably the organisers. I just hope I'm fit enough next time, and that I can get between the sticks for real.

Oh, and Deadbat, he played well!
