Uefa Women's Euro 2022 at Bramall Lane

Apart from the excellent technical standards shown the game last night was so refreshing to watch and played in the spirit of how the game should be played. If the players were fouled they got up and got on with it I think the trainer only came on once when the lass took a ball full on in the face. No feigning injuries, no arguing with the referee no looking for free kicks and penalties or trying to con the referee. In summary none of the nasty shithousing that you see in the men's game, the men's game could really learn a lot from this tournament as could the TV pundits too who actively encourage players to fall down screaming to get penalties and free kicks. How long before the women's game gets corrupted by money?
I was surprised at some of the fouls early on that in the EPL and EFL would have gained a free kick, but were waved on by the Ref.
And the foul by the Sweden player, who did get booked 2nd half (only booking of the game?), for pulling back her opponent would have been a booking in a mens game!

Also went triple point after, young lad got Jill Scott’s shirt

I absolutely fucking love the fact that there are gonna be young boys who come away from tonight (and other games recently) feeling the same way about certain England womens players as I felt about Beckham when I was a kid

Special stuff, and this is why they play

Great photo that

They're just bitter fuckers.

The rusting shithole they call home will only ever be remembered for one thing, and we all know what that is.

And no amount of shithousing by their fucking chromosome deficient apes will ever remove that stain......

Amen to that. Fucking piggy cunts.

Was rehearsing last night, so missed the game which was sad as I have watched every other one. The Spain game to me was the pivotal ninety minutes and the real test of mettle. I don't give a shit what people say about our equaliser - I'll range Lampard's goal v Germany on that score to settle. Stanway's rocket put paid to anything anyway.

But to see England (let's not classify it any other way - they represent all of us, not just 'the women') come away from the Sweden game looking ten times what any opposition team has in this tournament was fucking ace. And it's refreshing to see so many on here saying their heads have been firmly turned and even the most begrudging cynic now humbled. For the rest who feel the Lionesses are stealing their sandwiches, just contextualise the situation that women's football isn't here to replace the men's game but to be alongside it, with I feel a whole raft of better philosophies to note, chief of all the spirit and manner in the way they play the same game.

If they succeed in the final on Sunday - and I hope it's in front of a capacity Wembley stadium with millions watching at home - my wish is that we give the women's game the deserved bandwidth it deserves. They will have achieved something their male counterparts have striven for for many decades and themselves come back from the brink of winning trophies before, rebuilt their belief and above all else, made football the winner.

There was a shot of a young lass after the game in an England shirt dancing her arse off, singing herself daft and so 'in the moment'. I hope she's kicking a football next week in games at school with the rest of them.

We had a girl who used to play footy with us up on the Hemsworth estate back in the 70s. She was awesome and never got near school team playing, but had it all in the bag.

They could at least have done something similar to what they did in Belgium. After the Heysel tragedy the stadium was rebuilt and renamed.

Over in S6 they haven't changed anything except put seats on the terracing. The stand and the gangways where the disaster occurred remain standing today.

The least they could have done is demolish the Lepppngs Lane stand and build something more fitting in its place.

Classy club though aren't they.....

Like a toilet?

No disrespect to those poor fuckers who died because of the pigs malfeasance and 'couldn't give a shit/fuck the fans' attitude, or the coppers running the show who were just plainly malevolently incompetent, but Hillsborough is just one giant lavatory anyway, isn't it? It just drains into the river and flushes away to the sea in an enormous tide of brown, stinking filth. Hundreds of tonnes of freshly snipped-off bobbar and foul-smelling amber piss flooding one of natures waterways.

It's a shame nearly a hundred poor fuckers had to pay the price for the FAs insistence on using a shit-tip like that for big matches whilst their squealy fucking supporters claimed some sort of primacy over other clubs. Yeah. You killed them all. Own it, cuntholes.

God. You'd think at nearly sixty I'd be over Sheffield Wednesday, would you? But no. The loathing still courses through my aged frame and circulation.

I saw something on Twitter this morning that says the tournament has put £7 million into the local economy (not sure if that figure covered Rotherham too).

All good news. And hopefully South Yorkshire Police have learnt a few lessons about how to Police a football game without antagonising the fans 🙄

They won't have!

I know everyone busy slagging off their keeper, but please take a moment to appreciate just how good our keeper has been
I was going to say the same. Her save in the second half was absolutely brilliant.
It is over 60 years since I first came to the Lane and that atmosphere was amongst the best, different, but great.
What an advert for a traditional football ground.

I think the fans were more amenable than some of the usual visitors to BL !!

Fuck 'em.

They'd have been lucky to get 20000 there if England hadn't progressed.

Instead they got a fantastic atmosphere in a proper football ground in the home of football. The clamour for tickets is no bad thing.

Brilliant summary, thank you.
Last night was a wonderful occasion for so many young children, including my grandchildren. Unfortunately they were both born in Scotland so one was supporting Sweden !!!!!!!
Ironically more police on show than for any league match, with little chance of a pitch invasion !!

In the first half as well, pulled off a couple really good saves and keeping it at 0-0 was huge

She didn’t put a foot wrong, claimed every ball, some absolutely class saves, was one of the best keeping performances I’ve seen

Torygraph… the same paper that journalist worked for who was whingeing about not being able to get a ticket.

Not sure why they wouldn’t if they’d planned it properly. I don’t believe there’s not adequate room for the 6 or so main national newspapers.

The gripe is that members of the press, who are used to freebies and a free meal, suddenley were not able to get a pass because they applied too late. Just tag on about the poor old fans whilst we are at it just to cover up our major gripe a bit. If all the press had got in, you would not have seen a mumble, just about how wonderful the sell out crowd was etc.

It’s the Telegraph. The journo who tweeted yesterday about not being able to get a press pass was also from the Telegraph. Absolute 20/20 hindsight here. Yes, OT would probably have been suitable providing England got to the semis but, if they hadn’t, it would have been half empty.
