David Brooks and Kieron Freeman are both in United's U23s squad for Monday evening's Professional Development League fixture against Hull City.

The duo will continue their rehabilitation from illness and injury respectively against the Tigers at Grange Lane, home of North Ferriby United, kick-off 7pm, as the Blades look to return to winning ways.

Defender Ben Heneghan is also expected to feature, in a side skippered by Regan Slater.

Blades (from): Warhurst, S. Kelly, Freeman, Mallon, Norrington-Davies, Semple, Graham, Heneghan, Doherty, Gilmour, Slater, Brooks, Wright, Hallam, Smith, Oure.

No Chedwyn in the squad. Saving him for Friday?

Freeman is great news. I'd be surprised if Brooks wasn't involved on Friday in some capacity given we're without Fleck, Evans, Holmes and Leonard.

Not right though us playing first teamers in U23s even if he is only 13.

Leaving Brooks out of it as he was several levels above everyone else, I thought United did well as a team after a slow start.

It's the first time I've seen the U23s but I didn't think there were any individuals who look like they'll be banging on CW's door any time soon. Lots of hard work, some 'nice' footballers but no-one (and I include Heneghan) who stood out as ready for first team football.

Putting Brooks back into it, absolute quality. Had a fantastic view of the winner, was brilliant to hear the centre back cry out as he realised he'd been done by a bit of magic. Thought Brooks' touch was going to be too heavy after that but he beat the keeper to it. Class act.

Brooksey could well be the difference between making the play offs and just missing out, the lad oozes class and showed just what we have missed in that 45 min run out....Freeman looks at least a month or so away from first team return but good to see him get a run out....awful pitch mind tonight

He’s back! Oh how we’ve missed him.

Maybe get some minutes on Friday.
