I don’t know the answer ..... but my honest feeling is we have given players like Heneghan,Thomas even Cranie an opportunity and a healthy salary to prove their worth over some academy players we already have in the building. The number of games these players have played in would have helped develope our young players quicker. IMO.
The 3 players have a combined tally of one substitute appearance in league football for the Blades.
Outside of Man U, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea, our academy graduates played more Premier League football than any other club's in the world last season.
The fact that we are not playing more of our youngsters suggests that our coaching staff don't think they are ready yet.
A father of one of our academy graduates used to moan on here about his lad not getting picked 4 seasons ago. He's now in the Vanarama League North.
