There's a lot of excitement at the moment, with various people posting suggestive rumours, promising deals are done and all the usual frustration from fans that come with it. As a quiet summer has progressed I think it's more important than ever that more fans are aware of just how the transfer rumour economy actually works and who benefits from it.

This video is from the always excellent Adam Clery, if you don't already I strongly suggest you subscribe for his tactical content, but this video is specifically about his frustration about the Isak transfer and how the system works. It's well worth every fan taking 15 minutes out of their day to watch it.

Please bear this in mind the next time you consume content from Jimmy Bumble, or one of the faceless X accounts, or comments from an ex (or current) blades employee, or tame journalists from local rags (danny hall et al).

Another example of how this process works is below;

Take that instagram clip, replace 'tonali' with 'Souttar' and 'Tottenham' with 'Sheffield United'

I don't really know what the point of this post is, I just think more people need to be aware of how it works because when these transfers don't come off the knives come out and blame game starts.

Have we got any moneh or what?

Not pissing about with all that shite , soz.

I "think" the bloke was telling us that football is about money and some people ( like himself) can make money from football ,, I wish I had been able to ,, as far as rumours are concerned I enjoy Blades Ramble ,SUWay , When Saturdays Come , plus the info from the local journalists ( written and radio ) , plus the many people who post in The Rumours Section of S2 4SU ,, if you all stopped the close season would be soooo looooong ,, keep up the good work, keep the rumours coming

Hold in there, something will happen before the Mansfield game 👀

WTF is a "Sheffield United Influencer", what/who are they influencing?

That video should be pinned to the top of every 'incoming' and 'outgoing' thread. It breaks things down in such a transparent way. Clearly, it's generalising and some specifics will differ from player to player and transfer to transfer but it's a good reminder, from a football insider, that we're being fed info. The days of a big 'scoop', beyond a PR teams control, are all but over, for a myriad reasons, so everything we hear and read about a transfer is orchestrated, then gets fed into the churn and gets lost / distorted in translation / transition.

No , we haven't.
We can't spend unless we sell.
The manager's described his squad as "bloated", so wages are a burden.
The parachutes have gone.
We've lumbered ourselves with Cannon for 5 years , like Brewster on a smaller scale.
And the new EFL spending rules are tighter than before.
Even if CoH wanted to invest in their (claimed) long-term project , they couldn't improve the squad.
The best thing they could do is build us a good facility at Dore.

Same as all the other “influencers”

It’s just the wrong word, they don’t, and shouldn’t aim to, influence anyone.

They have a place, a lot of SU Way output is decent. I enjoy Under the Cosh, the News Agents, The Rest is Politics USA and a lot of Michael Wolffe’s output (although I’m not massively comfortable with his closeness to the Epstein thing).

But they inform me, not influence

You don’t think Jimmy Ramble and SU Way aren’t influencing fans opinions?

They make money manufacturing transfer rumour content and the club takes the blame when these made up transfers don’t come off.

"Selling club wants to be seen as not a willing seller and driving the hardest bargain possible".....Leicester City hopefully? And us probably with Gus !!

They can improve the squad if they wanted to. The new rules give some leeway for owners to pump limited money into acquisitions.

Hopefully not, they're just full of hot air so anyone with half a brain should just ignore them.

Why don't the board approach Kim Kardashian as an investor , what's a few million to her worth £1.9b
