Here we go again this club is just unlucky, Kev says so so it must be right  I seem to recall posting somewhere that Wilder would get no real backing from McCabe and it looks about right from where I'm sat. After getting shut of a load of players and making big savings on wages we quickly brought in a couple of players. Not much happening after that though seems like we were again strapped for cash so no real surprise when we sell Adams before we can look to bring in more much needed players even if most of the decent ones have already been snapped up. Looks very much to me like the funds from selling Adams and earlier wage savings are being spread around much to thin to just make an average team never mind one with quality in it, we are once again a team full of holes going into the last few weeks of the transfer window and all that is left in the shop window is shite like Caolen Lavery who it is rumoured we are in for (that's not because he is any fookin good rather it is because he is cheap). Bring in much more shit like this and we will soon be looking at League two and all I see is McCabe sat with his thumbs stuck up his arse and no clue as how to turn this club around, still we can sack another manager come May if the bad luck continues eh Kev.

Why do we have to be top two? Why does the squad have to be complete after just 1 transfer window? Even Wilders not that stupid. If we were top two by the end of August then you would be expecting any new players to gel instantly? (Assuming they had had the chance to play) I don't have firm belief, but unlike you i'm willing to give Wilder a chance to build his own team in his own time. If MacCabe keeps his wallet welded shut and we sign nobody I'll hold my hand up and say I got it wrong but if we make signings will you hold up yours?

Certainly. And you won't find me attacking Wilder, either. unless you've had the telly switched to the other channel, 'MacCabe' has hired and fired many managers, one of which went back to his old club and got them promoted. Funny old thing, that. I'll give Wilder every chance to build his team. Will 'MacCabe'? I mean, given the chance, would you be debating and agonising over signing Morsy, or buying a fucking outstanding PL benchwarmer who can't get a game for love nor money, or a vastly experienced midfield playmaker who could replace Basham and dominate the centre of the park, but is £2.5m?

Believe me, if we have results by the end of the TW I'll be on here proclaiming I got it wrong. But strangely enough (and it hurts real bad) I have been right for too fucking long now.

Just as a matter of interest, would you have kept Clough, when he fired him and why?
Would you have kept Adkins too when he fired him and why?
Clough did take his old club up but Think most can say that was 'in spite of him not because of him

I really don't get that argument. They were top when he took over but had sold their best player and lost the manager who put them there. To finish the job off was a real achievement. More than any Blades manager has done in this league, and we've been top around the turn of the year before...

Therefore, and it seems entirely self evident to me, Clough deserves credit for taking Burton up.

Yep. I'd have kept him. I can't forget either that during this intervening time, we have managed to shed some pretty talented players as well, and many on here I feel imagine Clough must have been compliant with that disastrous strategy. I am uncomfortable with the notion also that 'Clough spent millions'. Did he? Sez who? What, on Basham? Scougall? Coutts? I feel he was told to shop around and given firstly a massively reduced budget with which to work, and then after we'd shat the playoffs, told that the projected promised spend was based upon promotion, something we were vaguely going to achieve, especially with the likes of Brayford busted without replacement. So he left. And who says it was all JFHs work at Burton? If Clough was that shit, they wouldn't have been promoted. Period.

Adkins - well, everyone was happily spunking buckets at the prospect of his arrival yet strangely he 'delayed' signing anyone so he could 'give the team a chance'. Chinny reckon? We all knew who was shit and who was good. Murphy was good, much else was dogshit. Who got sold then? No surprise Adkins eventually brought in bargain basement crap after we'd brought Billy back from his time in the freezer at dirtyLeeds. No surprise that his shopping in the skip transfers were actually quite crap, and we ended up where we did with him sacked. I'd have kept him too. But bought him some decent players.

Now we have Wilder ... with the dross ousted but with nothing much to show in the gaps between hoped talent. Tell me if Wilder is worthy of keeping? I'd say so. Nothing wrong with the managers.

Give them the tools (and stop taking them away) and they'll do the job.

Nobody knows who Wilder wants and you make it sound so simple. 2.5m in this league? You need to get real. There are no gaurantees throwing money around like confetti will work. EVERY club works to a budget. We have regularly overstepped ours

One thing that I am not saying and that is that McCabe is perfect, he has made mistakes and will continue to do so.
He was or has been forward thinking, if for example, you take the China project...linking up with a local Chinese club, to tap into the biggest untapped market in the world was incredibly forward thinking at the time. Yes it didn't work and maybe cost the club something but he tried.
I remember listening to a radio programme which mentioned SUFC's link-up with Chengdu and how "revolutionary" it was. As I listened I thought "if it's that good an idea, why are no other football clubs, especially ones with far more resources, jumping in?". Maybe they knew that in all probability it would be a daft idea. So it proved to be.
