Outgoing? Tom Cannon

In that clip where he scored 4, it looks like a totally different player from the one we see week in, week out. For us, he's always looked like he's got the world on his shoulders; in the clip, he's very instinctive.

My main issue with Cannon is that he just doesn't look good at football at championship level in general. Yeah we might not play to his strengths but in terms of passing, heading, dribbling and tackling he doesn't do the basics well at all.

Like I said previously even Brewster put the graft in and got the odd assist.

Brewster has been done to death so I’ll keep this brief.

He had a good pedigree and came in after a good loan spell. He didn’t ask for the continuous and reoccurring injuries which contributed to his unfortunate failure as a blade

He worked hard though as you say and sometimes I think that was the reason why things weren’t going for him as he was trying too hard

In that final season though I think he had developed into a better 10 than a 9. In the 3-0 home win c coverntry in particular he was fantastic in the 10. Involved in everything we did well that night and scored a great goal.

He’s a better player than cannon for me. Just has hamstrings made of cheese strings

I think he might be totally screwed due to his fitness and could start tumbling down the leagues. He has got a knee cartilage injury from April that he had surgery on and the Derby boss reckons he will miss the next 4 or 5 weeks of this season.

So that's a new injury that will have kept him out of action for 6 months.

He may not play for us anymore but I really do feel quite sorry for him to be honest.

I think Tom Cannon knows he needs to move on to restart his career, I think the club know the same . Finding the right fit for him at a new club at a value that suits sufc is the tricky bit .

We've seen a few players over the years who just didnt work for us , hes just one to add to the list .

Hope for his snd the clubs sake a comprise can be reached.
yes i agree with you there hes playing like a striker who doesnt want to be here and knows hes on the move if we can get 4m for him he can go for me but if he does go we have to bring another striker in

Agree , if we paid £7m plus add ons he's probably on the books at around £2.5m tops so anything above and it'll show to be positive.
Its all just a big game of Panini stickers , everyone trying to fill their album before the bell goes .

I also watch and compare to Brewster who barely scored but always put a shift in - showed he had some form of footballing ability and chipped in in open play. As a result the fans were largely positive/encouraging to him in the hope he would come good.

Also there were strong rumours that it wasn't Wilder who bought him but rather COH sports. He doesn't seem a Wilder type player to me so in this regard it's been a misfit from the off.
No there weren’t. Certainly no strong rumours from any sort of credible source. Sounds made up to me.

Not a wilder type player? Crap and expensive? Exactly the sort of player he likes to sign

A certain Billy Sharp was known as a fox in the box, poacher type forward but Billy did everything Cannon does not.
It took 3 spells before he turned good for us.

He'd banged loads in for Scunthorpe (and to some extent Rushden before that). He came back and had to be 2nd fiddle to Henderson. He was forced out as a wide player. Similar to Cannon is now.
It was no surprise Sharp did well when he came back that 3rd time as we played him in a front 2.

We haven't really played a "proper" front 2 for years... probably the last few games of the 24/25 season and through the play offs... and thats actually when we started playing well again.

Regarding this point - Wilder chased him all the summer window before the prince pulled to plug on the final loan deal for that season. It wasn’t pretty openly reported at the time.

That was before the takeover

So I don’t buy the narrative that it wasn’t a wilder signing as he wanted him before the yanks even owned us.
