Replacing him shouldn’t be too difficult, a bag for life from Aldi would offer as much if not more.
Funny but returning briefly to reality we can’t leave ourselves with just two fit strikers neither of whom have perfect injury records. Now if there’s a plan to replace him do that and by all means get what we can for him but it’d be unacceptable to let him go and have no replacement lined up. We could easily find ourselves with no strikers at all. We’re looking like struggling as it is without self inflicting a fresh problem

Ooh , Torquay ? Dead posh !
None of yer Cleethorpes or Skeggy for the discerning gentlemen
I spent last week in Flamborough / Sewerby / Brid with my young Granddaughter . What a great week .

South Shore , Sewerby , Danes Dyke (who'd have guessed it ) South Landing , Flamborough Head , North Landing , Thornwick Bay , Bempton - all wonderful . Brid Centre is an absolute sh1t hole and needs bombing asap , as do the freaks who frequent it .

Cannon isn’t the problem, he just isn’t the solution either

It’s not like dumping your girlfriend and replacing and then everything is hunky dory, or your boyfriend if you are that way inclined

At this point in time, forget what’s gone on before, can’t change that, Cannon clearly won’t work in a system that couldn’t create to save its own life

It’s best for everyone concerned if Cannon goes, ideally I would prefer a loan where he somehow finds a system that suits and bangs in enough goals to increase a potential sale

The only solution I see to replacing him is we need to find someone fast as shit, who can run onto the endless aimless balls down the channel or the ones that always lead to the defender being favourite to get to the ball

Then you just hope this guy can either create some chances himself or can hold it up and lay off to the winger who will fail to beat first man or wait to cross it into a packed pen area

How you find this guy with two weeks left of window and how you don’t overpay for him I have no idea but we already made our bed

Sorry , I always forget to put a laughing face when I'm pulling someone's leg 🙄
Have just returned home to Sale - via a horror show at the Lane - from a fab few days revisiting my childhood hols at Filey and catching Heaven 17, ABC & Holly Johnson at Scarborough.
Saturday morning we were at Bempton Cliffs RSPB for the first time ever - stunning scenery & birds so close !
Wife had never seen East Yorkshire coast - now a fan 😊
Needless to say the cannon at Scarborough castle more use than the one at the Lane 😱

If (when) he's crap this season, it won't be because we can't create chances.

We've managed to score over 100 goals since Cannon has been here, and created God knows how many hundreds more chances. That'll be well above the average. Yet he's been pathetic.

I find the argument of “it’s not really his fault, we’re just not creative enough”. Yesterday wasn’t a one off where he’s been a passenger, it’s almost every game he plays - and weren’t we one of the most creative teams in the division last season and the season before? Yet his output has been really poor since he got here. We need to stop giving him excuses and just take him out of the team, he’s ineffective.

If we’re looking at replacing him, we’ve got Oné currently at the club, he’s just had a decent spell at Lincoln helping them gain promotion and their fans seem to rate him highly, he’s got superior traits and is physically superior, also has pace. For the output we get from Cannon, I genuinely feel one of the U23s would offer as much. Personally I’d stick with Oné as back up to Bamford. We’ve seen more in the occasional minutes he’s had than Cannon or Campbell.

Spoke to a guy last night who said that the problem is with our midfield players who never play the right balls for him and he subsequently has stopped making the runs. So the fault is with the way we play.

If that is the case, surely he has to be moved on as his “style” does not suit us

Not disagreeing but that’s on Wilder and the system he plays

It’s not meant as an excuse for Cannon but we saw last season he clearly isn’t suited to the system, asking him to continue week in week out whilst giving him nothing isn’t going to just improve

Would be like getting Billy in his prime and then asking him to play up top with no support and then lump it forward constantly expecting him to win the header and knock it on to himself

I’m a wilder defender and I would’ve been absolutely fuming if anyone other than Cannon was the first sub yesterday. I’ve really tried to like Cannon, at one point he was looking like he could still be dangerous, playing off the shoulder of the last man but just not getting the ball/rub of the green but that’s long gone. Offers almost nothing and I don’t think it’s particularly hyperbolic to say we’d have been no worse off playing with 10 yesterday.
This is absolutely spot on. A lot of people are kicking Wilder because Brewster also didn’t work out but that was entirely different. When we bought Rhian every fan and pundit thought we were getting an exceptional talent with a great future. His injury nightmare was just an incredibly unfortunate series of events … much like JOC.
Cannon just doesn’t seem able to produce for us and his confidence is so low he appears to be hiding. He needs the move as much as we all want him to move.

I think it's clutching at straws to say that he can even play off the last man. He's had multiple one-on-one situations that he's fluffed (including one at Hillsborough). It's just an easy thing to say because we don't see much of that in today's game, and therefore the thing we don't see must be the thing he's good at.

Apart from anything else, he doesn’t have the pace or strength to play off the last man. When he finds himself in that position, he invariably loses the challenge or watches the defender burn off into the distance.

One picked up an injury. Hopefully not serious but if it is he might be out for weeks.

Do you honestly believe that?
Yes.

There was loads of times yesterday he was leaning on the last man pointing for the pass to go through behind the defenders and we just kept checking back and playing it back out wide.

Then when it's out wide theres no balls being drilled across the 6 yard box.

Cannon must be fuming with the lack of chances being created for him. He makes intelligent runs and the ball never goes to where he wants it.

Sack off the inverted wide players and start getting to the byline to cut balls back.
All the crosses from our "wingers" - not sure you can call them that - just float to the GK

Our creativity (lack of) is astounding.

Neither Cannon or Bamford are particularly fast and subsequently if one of them were to come short to create space behind the other is not quick enough to exploit the space.

Can you ask AI how many times he was expected to win an aerial duel against their CBs?

Cannon's progress is being hampered by Kevin Blackwell-ball
I kind of agree but hes no longer making those runs for through balls because he doesn’t know he’s getting it, so is on his heals a lot.!

I was surprised how easily Campbell was outpaced by their RB yesterday. There was a ball knocked into acres of space, down the channel that I though Campbell would race onto and round his defender, but the RB made up the ground, easily, after 75+ minutes, and nullified Campbell. Not great.

Both things can be true.
I saw what you mean yesterday - I saw him pointing and begging for such a pass or through ball , yet the man in possession never cottoned on.
There is a distinct lack of a 'plan of attack' and that's down to woeful coaching & training.
Which is why the buck stops with Wilder and in any normal club he's be gone.
However ,
apart from that particular type of "striker -play" (sitting on the back-line and asking for the ball) , Cannon has nothing else to offer and therefore is an unsellable sickening waste of £ms , which again comes back to Wilder's recruitment , and forms another substantial reason , why he should be gone.
When you put it all together , the sight of Wilder playing Cannon - he's either stupid or cynically trying to justify his decision - is enough to boil my piss.
I honestly can't wait to see the back of them both.
I don't care what division we play in , I've been up and down the leagues and the country for nearly 60 of my 68 years on this earth.
But those two are now causing untold damage to my beloved club and my feelings towards them and it.
What a feckin shitshow , and what a load of bollox Wilder is now spouting.
And all tolerated by the stupidest most remote owners who are behaving like a rabbit frozen in the headlights.

One tweaked his hamstring sent for scan today

This is the biggest disappointment for me about yesterday. Opening games always have the potential to be a bit of a dud, so whatever, would have liked a win, but glad to have not lost. However, Onē looked like a bright spark in a drab afternoon. Did more than Cannon, bullied their players, had composure. Was exciting. Hopefully it's nothing more than a niggle that some treatment can sort out and he's available for the next game. I want to see him start.

FFS , why are you surprised ?
he's so unfit that Wilder didn't even take him to Mansfield.
AND HE GETS A NEW CONTRACT !!!

Who the fuck is running my club ?

Or our former premier league manager and coaching team get their respective thumbs out of their backsides and coach the players to do better?

Im 60+ now. I, and many older than me, dont have years to p*ss away watching Wilder's cliché ridden ego flail around whilst he clings on, ever more desperately, to 'his' job and simultaneously stopping us moving forward.

Well, I suppose I'm surprised because he's been having specific training, has been given individual work to do and, presumably, having done so, has earned that new contract. To then see that it appears he's not taken a step forward, is surprising.

Get rid for 6-8mill and get Anel in and Souttar and a decent creative player and we will be golden.
