Outgoing? Tom Cannon

This would be Utd levels of stupidity to let Cannon out on loan and leave us with only Campbell and Ings as our only strikers. There’s no way either of those stay fit for the entirety of the season, it’s even plausible that they are at some point both injured (knowing our luck in the same game) we have to have a replacement regardless of what we think of Cannon.

This is further proof that wilder should never set foot inside this club again. Absolute liability. And his cult wonder why he got the boot.

People complaining that we need a replacement. A replacement for what exactly? What has this lad done since he got here? Wiped out Anel in the play off final. That’s about it

Majority of wages covered and we bring in another striker? Yes please.
Unless this has been in the works, which it may well have been. It really won't give us long to sort a replacement. Just can't see us bringing in anyone that will give us that warm fuzzy feeling, considering it will have to be a permanent with our loan spots likely to be gone with Ogbene

Majority of wage? Needs to be all of it, 10 mill striker they are getting
They're getting a Striker that we could have ended up potentially paying £10M for. Assuming certain caveats were met. I suspect he's only actually cost us half that.

Re Cannon’s potential loan,we are “Exploring a late striker move so we are not left short” it wouldn’t be hard to find one that was more productive than Cannon.
However,it is quite likely that McBurnie,Brewster and Cannon will score thirty goals between them this season, tragic isn’t it.

Having Cannon or not having Cannon amounts to the same thing.

Nobody knows all guesswork
Sure, but there is no way we payed £10M up front. No deal is done that way these days. Just watch Sky Sports today and notice the amount of 'Option to', 'Rising to', etc. in deals. Not to mention the structured payments of deal as well. Not saying we don't have to account for the money owed (we know better than most the consequences of not) but there is no such thing as an up front cash deal these days. It's all spreadsheets and moving values across columns A, B, C, ------> Z.

But he's shite.... If we can stop paying him, then we should.
Until he goes elsewhere and remembers how to score again like the rest of our strikers.

Campbell is injury prone, Ings is 33 and hasn't played for years, One isnt ready. If Cannon going allows us to sign someone else I'm all for it but I'm not sure it does

I dunno mate, 15 for McBurnie and 15 for Brewster is quite unlikely

As someone else said, having him here and not having him here amounts to the same thing for us. I'll add, not having him here has the added benefit of more money in the current account.

There was a player in there at one point. He came with a pedigree, its impossible for strikers to look good in this side we dont create anything & he's not a right winger.

You just know as well as I do once he goes somewhere else he'll start scoring again

Don't know about that. He scored 9 for Stoke, yes. BUT, 4 of those were in a single game. one was a penalty and one was a direct free kick.

Who would be a realistic replacement? Let's say we get 3m from the Osula deal and and COH chuck in 1m. Who would be a genuine improvement on Cannon / the squad for 4m max?

We need an option of a tall, strong forward as a target man for crosses in the air from wingers, and as someone to hold the ball up when cleared from defence. At the moment we have been playing Campbell in the role of central striker on his own. Both him, and Danny Ings, would benefit from playing off a genuine big target man as a front two.
Selles needs also to decide how to prevent teams exploiting us down the wings, as all opponents are likely to do that having watched the M'boro game.

The topic has been spoken about a million times on here, I’m not saying I think he’s any good. What I do believe though is we need more options than what we’ve got if he goes.

I dont think we’ll replace him & I don’t think two strikers is enough. One isn’t ready at all
