Opinions on Cannon obviously differ but the new owners being prepared to front up that kind of cash is a statement of intent.
True, in that it can be stumped up immediately. There is always the safety net for them, that if we didn't get promoted, there's plenty of opportunities for them to get some moneys back in one or two player sales.

Good though that we have the opportunity to speculate, which we had lost with the Prince in charge.

I know we’ve over paid but that’s the situation we are in. I’d rather have a big standard championship striker than non at all

I think if he signs this will prove to be a good deal. He can shoot with both feet, he can definitely shoot from outside the box and quickly too when he does, he's no slouch, he finishes well on a one in one, he's hard working a has desire, something not all footballers have I might add.

It's small fry if he gets us goals to get promoted. I'm chuffed. An Eire international too, always love to see Ireland players for us right back to the great Alan Kelly.

Cannon looks a very confident finisher and always has done. He was hugely hyped at Everton for banging goals in at youth levels. Wilder/Knill helped Billy (pure goalscorer type) further improve his all round game. Could happen with this 22yr old lad.

If he signs I'll be highly optimistic, even if it seems a lot of money (rumoured).

Fee is higher than we probably would like to pay, but that's the way things tend to be in the JTW. Clubs are risking being without a (potentially) useful resource, potentially without any option to replace the player they are selling.

I think he could do a very good job for us. The lad isn't shy of having a shot at goal, something which we tend to struggle with. And he has been scoring at a reasonable rate in a quite uncreative Stoke side. He could turn out to be the missing ingredient to help fire us to a top 2 finish.

Hey we won't have any positivity on here thank you 😂

When was the last time we had a nice straight forward, relatively timely transfer?
Probably never - difference is, these days twitter is on it from the first sniff of a rumour and it then feels like its dragging on for ages. 15 years ago you'd have just heard we were in talks a few days before on the radio and then they'd sign - you wouldn't have to get stressed by all the crap that would've come before that social media brings and our god forsaken desire to know every miniscule detail

I'm still not happy at the money or convinced by the player, but it's a nice feeling to see the new owners back Wilder
That's the way I'm looking at it. Wilder picked his man and they went further than we are used to in getting him in. Very impressed with the calibre of player we are in for this window which is promising.

After the abject misery of last season, I feel compelled to look at things with a positive spin. Don't think anything can match that for levels of sheer despair 😄
