The future of Tom Cannon will be decided by Wednesday (15th) as I hadn’t realised that that is the last day a player can be recalled by their parent club in January.

Because us and Mackems are after the same two strikers, I reckon whoever gets Cannon (or BBD) the other club gets the other player. I don’t think both clubs are trying to sign both players

I must be missing something with Cannon. Seen him a few times and cannot see what the fuss is about. He was absolutely woeful when he played against us , admittedly most of Stokes team were that day.
stoke are the worst team to come to the lane so far this season dont base your judgement on that game cannon would get plenty of goals in our set up imo although im sure nerdy will be along soon to tell me im wrong lol ⚔️⚔️⚔️

I think that's a specific clause in relation to this deal, rather than a global rule.
Yeah that's how I see it.
Clubs will usually have a recall clause, but doing it on the last day of a window is incredibly cruel. It makes complete sense that a loaning club would.ask for a deadline of when the player can go back.
They'll obviously recall him for a sale. It seems they'll sell him for a loan with obligation (which is basically a sale on tick) but what's in it for them if we're after a loan or a loan with an option at the end? He might fire us up, but would we choose to buy him if we did get promoted? Tough one this. It all comes down to how much Chris rates him and wants him.

I think other fans would say the same about Campbell. Cannon is second top goalscorer in the championship in a side in the bottom half. He definitely strengthens out options immeasurably. For example how much better than One do u think he is at this point in time?

Unfair comparison but he is obviously better than One, as he should be. That said One should be out on loan. He is miles off the championship currently

Why is it an unfair comparison? One has started up front our last 2 games showing how short we are, if we sign Cannon then One stays on the bench or
is loaned out. Anyone who doesn't think we need a Cannon or someone similar must be happy with One starting

I think we do need a centre forward and never said otherwise. I don’t think cannon is the answer from what I have seen of him though.

There's never a certainty when u sign a forward but he's scored plenty for Stoke. Whenever I've seen him I'd agree he hasn't looked a world beater but then neither does Campbell but he seems a very similar kind of player to him

I like your optimism Bob
If it’s true and BBD will only come to us or sit tight then we should be concentrating on our supposed targets from Leicester, Cannon and Choudhury.
Let Southampton sweat on it. It’s not like left wing is somewhere we’re desperately short for coming into the Norwich game anyway.
Centre half, central midfield and upfront are far more urgent priorities if Southampton are fucking about.

I feel like Canon would be a very underwhelming signing from the little I know of him. However, I’ve got a feeling he might turn out to be a gem, just a feeling.

Being a goal scoring machine doesn’t always work out for us as unfortunately we’ve experienced recently.

They've recalled Nathan Lowe from his loan at Walsall.

Means either Cannon is going back, or Ennis (their other striker, who has been kicking off about wanting to leave allegedly) is on his way out

More nonsense Bob I'm afraid.

Centre Half I agree is a priority but to say LW is not and that we're not short is crackers.

We've shoehorned our best player, Hamer, in there all season. His replacement if he gets injured, if you can call it that is one Sam McCallum. Hamer also happens to be one yellow card away from a two match ban.

The meltdown on here if he goes off injured against Norwich would be considerably bigger than that of Souttars.

I think we’ve already covered that you’d shit the bed and pay whatever they were asking anyway, so you’ll understand that I’m not overly concerned of being accused of nonsense by you. I thought it was a done deal anyway?

When did we cover that?

Could see Cannon going Boro. They're about to get 16mil for Latte Lath so would be happier to throw the money about for him

No way an mls side pays that for anyone
For the BBC to be reporting it outside of its Gossip page means there's something to it, plus Sky saying it too

Seems an odd fee for an MLS club, but think that shows how fucked the game is nowadays

Is it official then? We have until Wednesday? Otherwise he's at stoke all season?
