Cannon appears to have all the attributes to be very good at this level. I appreciate many will compare him to Brewster based on what he's achieved so far but we can't base every future striker singing on this forever more.

If you watch his highlights for Preston and Leicester he looks quick and strong and has a very powerful shot. What more can we expect for £5m - £7m these days? Solanke has just gone to Spurs for £65m!

Personally think he'd be a great signing and if it pays off an English goalscorer could be worth a fortune in a couple of seasons. For every Brewster there's an Ivan Toney. Before Peterborough signed him he'd been out on multiple loans and hardly set the world alight.
He’s Irish.

I seem to recall we were after Toney but wouldn't meet Posh valuation - blimey did we miss out there !

They were likely other suitors for cannon before but just not mentioned. Saying that, maybe Sunderland after selling Clarke have more money now
yes sunderland will have the cash to pay the 7m leicester want

Not worth £7 million…. He’s not that good. He’s unproven to me 10 goals in 33 games is too short a period to be spending £7 million on. Mind you we did spend £23.5 million on a player who had only scored 10 goals in 20 games!!!!!

Sunderland look to have entered the race as well now

Nowt in the local rag (which is infinitely more ‘informed’ than ‘tStar)
Just signed a(nother) forward (loan to buy) & allegedly ‘interested’ in Benson @ Burnley

Who would you go for then?

But he did play 33mins in 2 seasons!

(Still) No reference to Cannon on any ‘networks’ / sources / gossip / ITK / alehouse chat up here
All ‘evidence’ is they have other ‘targets.
Its the main story on there? Although the source does quote Percy too: https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ransfer-bid-while-defender-nears-exit-4756943

Yep, signings might be lined up in anticipation of new owners coming in this week.
Hope so

Other thing is, if this takeover has gone through I would hope they’ve told Wilder that if you need to keep the likes of Hamer and Blaster then not to worry they aren’t for sale? Listening to Wilder, he seems slightly concerned about any bids coming in for them so it’s like all our assets are saleable regardless which is worrying

We’ve apparently turned down £13m for Hamer. What if the bid is increased? What if we don’t have time for his replacement? Do these new owners back Wilder?

We’ll see what happens but probably won’t find out the true story anyway
