Tom Cannon is toss

The Stoke fans said exactly the same…..then he started scoring for them.

The generall consensus was he doesn’t do much apart from score….but he needs setting up with chances.
Giving a whiff of when we bought Billy Sharp under Robson and stuck him out on the wing, then wonder why he's not scoring

He isn't toss, he just doesn't at all fit into our style of play and will not score many goals for us - which many of us knew before we signed him hence why we were saying the money we've paid for him is a disaster.

We don’t set up chances, and never have. Yet we sign a striker who needs chances setting up? Clueless signing.

Ah yes who can forget billy running past 11 players before hitting it in the top corner from 25 yards.

Some utter crap spouted on here!

We don't set up chances... Not sure that's quite accurate!

Sure, yeah, we don't create enough of them currently. Hopefully though, we might try to! The squad isn't threadbare anymore.

I can't believe for a second that we'll play Choudhury AND Souza going forward - Davies and Souza for example, would provide a lot more in terms of creativity.

BBD, JRS, Hamer, O'Hare etc... Good attacking players. So unless they refuse to pass to Cannon, he should get some chances.

We set up less chances than stoke. I’d say it’s completely accurate.

We don't create enough. But we do create some.

Anyhoo, surely the management team are planning for us to create more chances in the long term.

Steady on Newbie. Calm down !
Not sure what being new on here has got to do with owt. Might have been a season ticket holder for forty years but just not bothered with this forum before. Strange insult.

I think he can contribute but I don't think he should be starting. But the fee needs to be justified so hopefully he can figure out his role

It's not news is it. Give Wilder millions to spend, and he'll find the nearest player to spunk it on. Then select him ad nauseum in order to justify it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Wilder hater, he just makes it so hard to be a lover at times.

He's had 3 games, what did people expect our new signings to do, come in and instantly be the best players in the squad?

Give him time, he's 22 and already proved that he can score goals at this level.
Adam Armatrong had one game at WBA.....

1 goal

It's much too early to judge him. Give the lad some time.

Literally this. We judged Traore after three games, in a higher league as being shit. Cannon looks absolutely woeful. As expected. As said from plenty of Stoke fans.

We are second in the league not bad for a team of tosh. I am preparing a large humble pie for the Tosh brigade come May utb

We create little but I expect a player that cost so much to run around, press and at least be a nusiance. I expect him to show for the ball or link and try and have some sort of influence.

I get wound up when people say he's not that sort of player. I expect a player to contribute and move and at least put some effort in. He barely broke out of a jog yesterday. I was so annoyed at how little he did and seemed to be going through the motions. Close down, win a header, sprint. You will not get the ball played right to your feet all the time at Champ level.

Lets say we go up, we wont have the ball hardly and will need an outlet/hold up - so where does he fit in then or it it a 10 million signing to get us a few goals and go up - well he does not look like scoring at all?

For 10 million, I expect at least a player that can do something to worry defenders or even work hard. This lad seems to lack all the qualities you would want in a centre forward - pace, movement, physique, heading ability and ability to run the channels.

I hope I am wrong but seems a bizarre signing. Adam Armstrong on loan would have been fine as would others and use the funds to get a proper centre back.

It is worrying that the 4 worst players arguably yesterday were all the new lads!

I know he needs time but do we have that when so few games left?

We don't play to Cannon's strengths, which is a worry.

When we signed him, there were comments about him not being able to follow even slightly complex instructions. Which is a bit of a worry given the way Hamer and O'Hare play.

Still, early days and in fairness there needs to be more blame on other players for not creating chances for him.

He hasn't lit up the pitch yet. To be fair he's not had much service.
One thing that most are overlooking is the fact that without his contributions in the past two games we'd be four points worse off.

What are these strengths?
Not quick, not skillful, not big so not good in the air, not a regular scorer. Everything about him so far says possible journeyman Championship striker and a bizarre signing for £10m.
