Incoming? Tod Cantwell

It's all very interesting how Cantwell splits opinion. On the ball he appears strong, holds players off and looks for an incisive pass, and he certainly has a shot on him . Defence wise poor, but i am sure Wilder/Knill could sort that, and his hair, that would not do, obviously more important than if he can play football. Young striker Ibah? Looks a prospect?

Hes pranced around all night and shown very little to suggest is half decent

He’s a young English player in the Premier League, they all cost over £10m!

Yeah I thought the exact same based on tonight.

On the ball he looks great IMO but off the ball he's pretty similar to the rest of them and the reason they're going down. I'm sure it's nothing CW/AK couldn't sort but it's a hell of a gamble at the sort of prices quoted.

I know I sound like a broken record but would love Buendia here. He's the only one who looks like he has the quality AND the fight to fit in here but by all accounts he's off to Bellend Road to join up with the Argie Pep :rolleyes:
 
Shouldn't judge players on their performances in an.already relegated team that can't defend
Cantwell looked good enough earlier in the season.that he was linked with Liverpool and he has scored more goals than anyone in our team

If wilder rates him that will do for me
 
Being Sheffielder's i thought people would see through the sarcasm about the hair style. May be not. Cantwell is a yes from me for 15 million but no more.

Off the striker or possibly in the ten role - depending on other recruitment. If he sees him in the right midfield role I agree he's nowhere near good enough defensively at the moment.
 
I’m certain CWAK will discount him purely because of his haircut and the fact he has headphones on when he warms up. I mean, it’s just plain common sense and has a huge impact on his ability to play football and work hard.

A fair shout FB but you must admit it neither do anything to help the fact that he's perceived by a lot of people as a full weighter. He'll certainly be a good test for CW's knobhead test!
 
I thought it was plain to see last night why he had the braids/plaits in at the weekend, his locks were super shaggy v Chelsea....great look.

Maybe I’m just too cool, bougie and down with the kids, but I don’t see either as contributors to him being a full weighter?
His headphones for all we know could be key info for the game he’s pre-recorded, or just something which cuts out the crowd and helps him focus just prior to kick off. It could be fucking whale song or be Coldplay, which OK may be a fair concern, but it doesn’t really matter.
As for questions on his attitude he fought his way into a starting place in a Championship winning side and held it down at 20 years old. He then went on to play every game in a very challenging Premier League season and was highly regarded by most observers at that level, at 21.
Do we really believe this 22 year old doesn’t have what it takes to listen, take on instruction and improve because he acts a bit like a kid at times? From my perspective it seems like those are things he’s proven beyond doubt he’s able to do. My question, to which I do not have a definitive answer due to my lack of ability and knowledge, would be does he have the technical ability and physical attributes to play at the level we need, and within the system we’re proposing? I believe he does.

I can remember as a kid really enjoying watching Tony Currie's flowing blond locks gracing BDTBL in the 70s. 😎🤗🤩
I've since then grown into my dad and think blokes with long hair is really a bit naff! Lol. Is that sexist or summat?
Probably. Ive just got old and cantankerous I guess... dont shoot me. I think the modern version of TC (Todd Cantwell) would be a great addition but doubt we'll get him.
 
Can’t say I’ve paid much attention to either Norwich or Cantwell this season. Where would he fit into our system?

Is he a left footer? If so, would this spell the end of Freeman’s time at the Lane?

Is he a box to box midfielder? If so, is he an improvement on Lundstram or Berge?

Is he a holding midfielder? If so, is he an improvement on Norwood or Berge?

In our shape he would play RCM. He is alot better defensively then people give him credit for but is not better than Lundstram or Berge at defending. If we make a signing like this I wouldn't be surprised if we make another small alteration to our midfield.
 
A guess at the CWAK character questionnaire

Does he turn up on time?
Does he put a shift in every session?
Any mardy sulking?
Is he a team player? Gets on with the squad? Willing to go out of his way to fit in?
Good rapport with fans? Understands the club philosophy?
Good listener? Takes on board what he's asked to do?
Willing to improve and work at it?
Does the off-field stuff willingly?































Has he got a proper haircut?
