Last night was hugely positive for the Burton game.

1. Morale is boosted again, we're back in the top 6 and our fans should be more positive and up for the game.

2. On a steep stand last night a relatively small number of us made a decent amount of noise - exactly like we could on BLUT.

Our fans very quiet again today. Could've heard a pin drop. It's like they weren't even there.

Just more proof that we need something different...

If you put "clappers" on those seats they'll be queuing round the block to get in.
But seriously I think most people go in to BLUT and WC to just to watch the footy (which is allowed). Why are you trying recreate the back of the Kop and H block in an area that probably doesn't want sing about "shagging your women" and "drinking your beer."
Us "Snowflakes" have got sit somewhere you know.

Make the back half of the kop unreserved seating next season. Then all the singers could group together. It will upset folk but would improve atmosphere.

I'm sure when I was a kid the singing was back centre. Now it's all in the far corner next to pukka pies stand.
^^^^
This would be a great Idea, not sure the club would allow it. It would work with the safe standing concept, because the ticket would be for an area and no actual place\seat number required.

With the proposed standing areas, wouldn't you be designated a specific seat/bay on the ticket? It basically defeats the object if you still have to go to a specific bay. How do they do it in Germany?

Ricky you are a credit mate.

I know mate, I know.

I was kind of fearing that yesterday with no one being able to move STs for 3 days before the game!

I've heard the Westfield Corner sing a few times. I'd also try to avoid too many sweary/dirty chants. They'll just have to be phased in over time....

TBH I only have ever bought seat tickets in Germany. In the past when looking at the seating plan for a game in the Allianz, the standing areas where always shown with a different colour. My assumption was that for these areas a ticket was bought from the total number of tickets allocated for these areas. The standing areas dont really restrict movement of people, I can not see how it would be possible to actually control who stands where.

I did go to a League 3 game in Germany, with a German mate who supports Hansa, to watch Hansa Rostock away at SG Sonnenhof Grossasbach, here they still use traditional standing areas with free movement, OK not quite Bundesliga but still the same ground concept. There was more atmosphere at that Friday night game in front of about 4,000 fans that at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans. It is amazing what noise 900 visiting fans can make for 90 minutes.

900 can make a hell of a noise. It's surprising how 900 can sound like thousands and 50 can sound like hundreds.

What I'd suggest with the standing areas is a combination of designated and unreserved. Because when a stand is sold out and it's unreserved seating/standing, you'll often get certain areas packed and certain areas empty, because when you're there you don't get a good view of where the space is - especially on large stands. It'll often be well into the game before fans find their space.
It would be better to confine the area in which fans search for a space, whilst retaining a large element of free movement. 500 spaces would form each block for example.

They probably do this in some countries. Won't happen over here though, it's too sensible. We'll always have to go to our seat number like good little boys.

I’d really like to see the club work with you more closely on this one. Do you know to what extent Palace were involved in their successful singing area (sorry I’ve used that rather silly phrase again for want of a better description) or was it entirely fan driven and organised? Whichever it was, they’ve done well.

Cap-doffing fucking Crystal Palace, now, are we? I know.

I think it was mainly fan driven with Palace. This is a good article on their efforts if you have a few minutes.

But the big difference between them and us is that they targeted the end where their more vocal element already resided. It would be like us doing it on the Kop. The BLUT is away from our natural focal point so we couldn't approach it the same way and get the same result. But that's not even what I'm aiming for, it's not realistic. I simply want to make that end of the ground more vocal, bringing together BLUT and South Stand H block, and build a platform for it to grow long term.

Fascinating stuff. A very interesting read. What they have done is abmirable in many ways though there are hints of pretentiousness and still worse, hooligan culture in there.

As a matter of interest only (I’m far too old for ultraing, sadly), could it not happen on our Kop in much the same way?

I don't think anything Ultra style would catch on here, but if the space is available I don't see why we couldn't organise an effective vocal support area - I get the impression it would be easy to get a group of 100+ if it was the Kop I was focusing on. But available space is an issue. And if this group was at the back the impact could be minimal, whereas on the BLUT it would be transformative.

The guy sounds like a nutjob.

"Away followings we see at Selhurst now are made up predominantly of pie-munching replica shirt wearing men, families and maybe 2-3 rows of hardcore piping up with outdated songs every other couple of minutes. Ideally, there would be organised groups of well dressed, switched on lads having pride in representing behind their group banner away from home, wanting to outdo the home group in every aspect"

Bump.

Anyone interested, please give it a go on BLUT next Tuesday. The least you'll get is a great view with fans around you who'll join in with any chants.

Remember you can move your ST to BLUT for this game.

Seats 115-125. Back few rows.

If you want to do it then do it. Don't be a slave to what mates want to do! If you'd be by yourself, you can stand with me - exclusive offer right there.
(Offer invalid if not claimed within first hour)
