You have an easy chance to do something about it at the Burton game on Saturday.

We've effectively got an unreserved seating area in the Upper Tier where fans can gather to try and improve vocal support.

It's an excellent view up there and combining that with a decent atmosphere has obvious appeal. But for it to happen people need to make an effort. Just move your season ticket to the BLUT and go to the target area - back 5 rows, seats 115 to 125.

It doesn't take a huge number to make a good amount of noise up there. It could also get South Stand H block going, as well as the corner.

It's OK trying your best at the back of the Kop but it's a long way back from the pitch and the vocal fans up there are too far apart. You'd be much more effective from a support point of view in the BLUT. Just 50 up there would really improve things. 100 would make a huge difference.

If everybody who complained about the Bramall Lane atmosphere actually did something about it we wouldn't have a problem.

Over to you. I can't do much more.

Wasting your time Ricky son

We'll see, son. I can see why you'd think that. But I can only try. We're quite a big club so I'd like to think there's more than a handful who don't want Bramall Lane to be a permanent library, and are willing to get off their arses and do something about it. Then again, our fans aren't as passionate as they used to be.

Ricky have you tried doing this in pubs rather than on the Internet? Get yourself in the Cricketers, London Road etc. Get word out amongst the blades who like a drink (we all sing when we’re pissed, even those who don’t like football) rather than those who go straight home and read a football forum (nothing wrong with that).

I see where you're coming from. Don't think I'd have much luck there though because "whey it's not t'Kop is it" and most Blades in those pubs are far too cool to consider moving to an 'organised' section.

More than enough have heard about it through the internet. Especially considering the target is a modest 50.

Just so everyone knows, our home atmosphere won't naturally get better. No matter how well we do on the pitch.

This is a problem of all seater stadiums..
On terraces all the rowdy ones stand together but in seating you sit where your allocated..
I also put this down to a lot of trouble beetween own fans,,ie when a few drunks get put next a dad and his kid but won’t stop swearing etc..
Safe standing is the only way to get British stadiums rocking again in my view

All seaters don't help but more than anything I think they're just used as an excuse. In most stadiums fans could easily do more to improve things but they don't. This is an example of that.

Bringing back standing would be nothing like a complete solution. It wouldn't suddenly restore the lost football culture in this country. I doubt anything will now.

Was the last time this was organised the Bolton game?

Let's hope the performance isn't complete shithouse which would pretty much kill it again.

Any idea how many already committed to joining you Ricky?

Tbh Bramall Lane is more liberal than most when it comes to standing. In some stadiums they force everyone to sit down at all times. At the Lane, standing on the top ten rows of E, F and G on the Kop is unofficially tolerated. The atmosphere isn't the worst by far, but this season has been surprisingly flat given our success. Palace is a good example, bit of organisation has got Selhurst Park rocking, even when they are doing shit. Great initiative Ricky, it would be fantastic if the BLUT became a second kop

great work Ricky. brilliant. trouble is i'm stuck on the kop and much as i love the Blades i'm not buying two tickets. great start though. if you could get something similar to work on the kop then we'd be rocking. personally i don't think you should get seat tickets for the kop. just the gangway. then you can stand with your mates like we used to. people aren't as selfconcious then

it's not the seats! it's the seating arrangements.. 'you have got to sit here'.
you don't know anyone around you. your casual mates that can't afford/justify a season ticket that want to come will have to sit on their own 50 yards away

Nah. Probably somewhere between 25-50.

Regardless, it's worth a go. As I've said before everybody makes a difference up there. And it's not like you'll be missing anything anywhere else in the ground in terms of atmosphere.

The least anyone moving there will have is a good view and a few fans around them willing to join in with chants.

if they keep that on next season i'm moving over there ;)

You can move your season ticket to BLUT from the Kop for individual games, it's £2. Can be done at the ticket office or over the phone.

I know. But the proposed standing areas wouldn't solve that problem. Everyone would be allocated their own standing bay, it wouldn't be like the old terracing.

i can sing sat down.. i just feel a bit weird when i don't know anyone. i suspect others feel the same. i didn't know you could switch seats. i'll look into it.

Yep, it's easy to do.

I should make it clear to everyone that YOU CAN MOVE YOUR SEASON TICKET TO ANOTHER STAND FOR INDIVIDUAL GAMES. It wasn't too clear in the O/P.

But I wouldn't encourage it for any games likely to approach a sell out, because as far as I know when you do that your actual ST seat remains unavailable for anyone else and you're effectively taking up 2 seats.

Not true. Best atmospheres in recent years were in the Prem. Success and an underdog tag improves our (and every clubs) atmosphere.

Good luck in trying though. Honestly.

I get to around 5 games a year, and get a ticket nearby mates, and then move to them. There is plenty of space around

Make the back half of the kop unreserved seating next season. Then all the singers could group together. It will upset folk but would improve atmosphere.

I'm sure when I was a kid the singing was back centre. Now it's all in the far corner next to pukka pies stand.

11 years ago, it was a different generation of younger fans and before smartphones.

So many people stuck on their phones all game. I wonder if that has made a difference.

That was over a decade ago and things have changed a lot since then. Which seems mad, but it's true.

Any recent Bramall Lane 'underdog' occasions haven't been that good and even the Sheffield derby was flat.

The above prove to me that it won't naturally get much better. Nothing will make the Kop stand up now.

Charlton in the F.A cup is the last time I can really remember the Lane rocking.

Something has definitely changed in the past 10-15 years. One of the best ever atmospheres I can remember is against Aston Villa in the F.A cup live on the BBC when there were 14,000 there! Couldn't imagine anything similar today.
